Welcome to the studio! I'm Mav, from the series BSG: The Next Chapter. I'm going to be taking you on a tour of our operation here.
About this creation
Mav: "Here are some of the gang from the show, Simon , Corthay , Bonsch , and Bones . We sure had some serious adventures last season, on set, and outside on location!"

Mav: "You may recognize Galactica's CIC set. Commander George Nempec. Both he and Doug are buddies of mine from college, and I roped them into this project."

Nempec: "Yeah, he's always been a scifi nerd..."

Watchko: "And he doesn't pay us squat!"

Mav: "Anyway, here's some of the set from Parrington's quarters on the Cylon Baseship."

Mav: "The Cylon CIC was recently upgraded at the end of the First Season. The producer wasn't all that thrilled with the original."

Mav: "Here we see the two varieties of robotic life forms, the original Centurions, and the ones who captured Levopolis. They usually don't have much to say..."

Mav: "Here's Garry King and some of his robotics department."
King: Toasters Rule!

Mav: "Levopolis' cell on the mysterious alien ship. He's getting prepared to shoot a scene for Season Two."

Levopolis: "I'm a method actor."

Mav: "Here are some of the props from the Colonial Home Worlds, the Triton, and one of the new Vipers!"

Mav: "The Triton's CIC set, Mahan and Dendauw , Kaleta and Fassio in the back. "

Mav: "The set is based on the design of the Galactica CIC, just a smaller scale.
Mahan: I need coffee..."

Mav: "Here we are with Dr. Marcus Korund , chief medical officer aboard the Galactica. How are things, Doc?"
Dr. Korund: "I'm a doctor, not a tour guide..."

Mav: "Anyway, you can see the Med Bay in the background, and our wounded soldier in the Recovery Pod..."

Mav: "Components of my quarters and Nempec's. We just move the walls around and change some of the decorations. It's a lot easier that way..."

Mav: "Alright, now I'm on the FleetLevel, under the Zephyr."

Mav: "This entire level is where all the ships of the Fleet are stored, both Colonial and Cylon."

Mav: "It's not very often the Galactica is brought out for a photo shoot, but when it is, it's fairly easy to move the Fleet out of the way for access."

Mav: "The Cylon ships are kept over here."

Mav: " As you can see: the Base Ship, Resurrection Ship, Raiders, etc."

Mav: "The Galactica takes up almost two thirds the length of this level!"

Mav: "Moving on to the Hangar Deck..."

Mav: "By far the largest set in the studio, and my personal favorite, the Vipers and Raptors are all kept here."

Mav: "This hangar door was just built recently to provide a backdrop for some upcoming scenes in Season Two!"

Mav: "Lt Kuo, Chief Engineer, and my wife in real life. And this is our son, Moose. He often helps with the set lighting, and organizing around the studio."
Moose: "How's it going, Gomers?"

Mav: "A lot of the props here on the Hangar Deck are actually fully functional!"

Mav: "We'll continue the tour out back..."

Mav: "Oh, here's Chrissy Phipson! She's one of the big stars of the show, and gets by far the most fan mail! Getting a little workout in between shoots, Chrissy?"

Chrissy: "Yeah, just toning! Gotta work off all those doughnuts!"

Mav: "Here's the Caprica City Waterfront set."

Mav: "Although it was used only a few times in the show, it's one of the producer's favorites, and I guess he can't bring himself to tear it apart..."

Mav: "Now, our last stop on the tour. We're getting ready to shoot a scene for Season Two! It takes place in the Tactical Briefing Room. It's a variation of the Pilot's Briefing Room from Season One."

Mav: "As you can see, we've got the lighting all rigged up. The cast is running through some of the dialogue, and getting some hair and makeup finishing touches."

Watchko: "Okay, okay..."

Mav: "Well, I hope you've enjoyed the tour! And stay tuned for BSG: The Next Chapter Season Two!"

Hi ,
Your ship models from Bsg were the best i´ve ever seen !!
Do you have building instructions wich you can send or sell to me?
Greets from Germany marvin
Thanks for the comment, Marvin! Nope, no instructions, but most of the ships seen here have their own folders with lots of pics. So if you have any specific questions about a particular ship, I can try and help out. Later! |

Thank you, Sir Knight! A number of people had asked to see some of my builds without any of the photo manipulation, so I figured this was the easiest way to do it, all in one shot. Plus some goofing around with the crew is fun. Glad you enjoyed it! |

LOL excellent idea to do some outtakes of the crew. I'm in the same boat as Stu....keeping sets built up for long periods of time eats me up!
Yes, but it's the only way to go about it, really, at least for the major sets. Like I said earlier, I have a bunch of random wall sections that can be pieced together for hallways, rooms, whatever. But the CIC and Hangar Deck, I'm always taking new shots, new people, ships, etc. Better get out the credit card, Dude!

Thanks! That hangar deck is a fun set, moving ships around, and all the people and gear. I finally ordered some pieces to build that end wall, which can be switched easily to the other end of the deck. Should give me a lot more camera angles. |

A delight to see what goes on outside of the story and also a good guide for me - i've never left anything built up but am now ordering parts for a story with the intention of leaving 'sets' together. The problem is I don't have any storage space for them....
You really have to hang on to those sets you're going to use over and over again. Although I often shoot extra pics with other characters, trying to anticipate future scenes, but it's pretty difficult. Another suggestion is to build some sets in components. I have a whole collection of walls to mix and match. They don't take up nearly as much room that way. I'm sure you'll find the space to store them! |
