THE WINNERS ARE HERE! The winners of the "Great Lord of the Rings contest" has come to a close, and the winners are:...
About this creation
Hello, all! Welcome to the final MOCofHonor for the "Great Lord of the Rings Contest"! We are at the western shores of middle earth, near the Grey Havens. Here, the great LOTR saga reached its end, as the heroes sailed off to the undying lands.
Now, we as Lego sig figs gather here together also, to bring our own journey to its end.
I can't believe this is it! We have had 15 AWESOME entries into the contest, and each one of you should give yourselves pats on the back. I know I tried to give really specific feedback in my judging, so hopefully all 15 of you will walk away from this contest a better Lord of the Rings builder.
So, without further ado, the winners:
I could not have done this contest myself. Four other awesome guys helped me judge this contest.
Can everyone give a big round of applause to Mark Murphy, (whose new buddy icon appears for the first time in LEGO)!
All the judges have their own place up here, to witness our proceedings.
Josh O. Shadeslayer, appearing in his armor from his Eragon CYOA.
Michael Kringe, and his new Siggy Figgy.
Wait a minute where is Aidan Moon?
MARK MURPHY: Up here. He didn’t want to have his white beard shown in front of everybody.
AIDAN MOON: Hey!
CHRISTOPHER BALDACCI: Hey, its fine, Aidan. Age gets to everybody, even sig figs. :D
Thank you so much for judging as well!
Alrighty, folks! The winners have arrived and we are ready to get this party started. If each winner would kindly head to their respective docks.
Our third place winner, to the dock with the Bronze cup, if you please.
Second place, goes to the far left dock with the silver trophy.
And our first place winner, the stone jetty with the banner and the One Ring.
OK! The moment you’ve all been waiting for. Let me tell you first though that this was one close contest! The top three winners were decided by FOUR TENTHS OF A POINT! (0.4) Everyone should feel proud of themselves after this contest.
Our third place winner, with a final score of 89.6… Night Hawk_! with his stunning rendition of Amon Hen.
Congratulations, Night Hawk!
Since you have won third, with an entry from The Fellowship of the Ring, you get to hoist the bronze “Mirror of Galadriel” as your trophy.
Everybody at home give Night Hawk a huge round of applause.
Alrighty, next, in second place, only .2 points higher,
With a score of 89.8, its… Max Pointner! Congratulations! Isengard was in my opinion (and the rest of the judges) the best microscale in the contest. Great job, Max! Why am I thinking of scalding water and soap when I should be congratulating you? Who knows…
And since for your second place entry, a silver stairs of Cirith Ungol, I have a feeling you are familiar with them?
And our winning entry, snatching away the victory by only another .2 points… Kenton Lanier, with a score of 90 and the winning entry: Bag End - Miniland Scale!
Well-deserved victory, Kenton; Great work!
By the way, nice tux!
KENTON LANIER: I like to dress up.
CHRISTOPHER BALDACCI: By the way, where is your violin?
KENTON: A purist at airport security wouldn’t let me take BrickForge on the plane.
CHRISTOPHER: Um, Kenton, we’re in Middle Earth, how did you get here?
KENTON: My private jet. We had to by a $200 GPS upgrade just to find our way here, and the elf on the runway wouldn’t let us taxi until we said ‘friend’ in elfish.
CHRISTOPHER: What happend?
KENTON: We ran him over.
KENTON: Just kidding.
CHRISTOPHER: Whew, glad to hear it. Well, congratulations, Kenton. You deserved the win. What a great build!
Go ahead and grab that banner. And take the ring, Master Lanier. You are the Great Lord of the Rings contest champion!
A round of applause for all our contestants!
Well, that’s it folks. Thank you to everybody who made the contest a success.
By the way, for any of you who missed the contest because of MIT or MOColympics, never fear! Some FOTB admins and I are working on the next big LOTR contest, and it will be even bigger than this one, if all goes as planned. So stay tuned!
Alright! Thank you all again. Congrats to the winners and so long to the fans.
Also, as a side note,
Fantastic MOC, really great work on everything! As I was reading this I was kind-of wondering if Deus had hi-jacked your account and started having his sig-fig take over Middle Earth... Still, I guess there are only so many really good minifig parts that one can use, repetition is inevitable. Again, great work!
The stars of Cirith Ungol huh? Type-caster. Just kidding. I love the docks! The egg on my sig-fig's shirt is incredibly like the real one. Great job with the detail there. ;^) Congratulations to the first and third place winners! Great work, and Kenton, I knew you'd beat me the instant I saw your MOC. Great work!
Quoting Shy Guy
My top score was 61, what place am i in???
All five scores were averaged to come up with final scores (that's why there were decimal points in the final scores for the top three). You achieved a final score of: 57.8. That put you in 13th place. I think picture quality and minfigures hurt you the most. You had a really good idea and you have a ton of potential. Higher placings will come with time. Thanks for entering the contest!
Thanks for hosting this great contest, and for this fantastic MOC to announce the winners. It was fun to participate, and for my first LOTR MOC, I'm pleased to get fifth! I can't wait until the next contest.
Man, I wish I had had time to build something for this, but after seeing the winning MOCs I doubt I would have placed. Really awesome stuff! Also an amazing MOC of honor, and the trophies are brilliant too. Well done!
Aha! Those were te exact people I thought were going to win! Bravo to all of our winners and other contestants! And thank you judges for being fair in your judging! Hope to some day get into the top three, so maybe next time.....
Bravo winners! This build far exceeds any or my "MOCs of Honor", perhaps I'll enlist you for a certain secret LOTR project...great job Christopher! The write-up was pretty funny too. That's exactly the order I thought they were going to win in.
Quoting William .
Thanks for hosting this great contest! What was my score?
You just missed the top five by 1.2 points. Your score was 79, and you came in 7th right behind Nathan Oh's "Weathertop" (79.8 pts.). Great job. Even though you didn't make the MOCofHonor you had the best brick-built Doors of Durin I have ever seen.
WOW! That was a close finish! Thanks again for doing this contest! I definitely think I came out a much better builder than I was before, and a lot of the credit for that goes to all of you, and all the other incredible builders here on MOCpages! I've learned a lot from all of your creations. Congrats to Max and Night Hawk for making the top 3 as well! I like the little bit of dialogue there, too - I could definitely see myself saying that stuff... :)
YAY!!!!! I'm the first to comment on the splendid work everybody did!!!! Great job judges for giving your honest opinion and judging. Congrats to the winners!! You guys deserve it!!!!! Great build Christopher!!!! I like the gold flags and the build as a whole is awesome!!!!
