Murray's ice cream parlour - the finest place to eat ice cream this side of the Danube!
About this creation
This MOC owes its existence to a conversation I had with my young son in the summer. When asked what he wanted to be when he grows up, he said he wanted to run an ice cream shop. This was a surprise as it didn't involve ANY driving around vehicles with flashing lights, unlike most of his ambitions! To be fair, we were eating ice cream at the time. So that got me thinking, wouldn't an ice cream shop shaped like an ice cream cone be brilliant?
The customers certainly seem to be enjoying themselves.
"Hello there, I'm Murray, the proprietor of this humble establishment. Do come in, and let me show you round."
"As you can see there's not much here on the ground floor; if you'll just follow me to the lift..."
"Now this is where the magic happens. If you'll excuse me, I'm rather busy trying to create a new flavour of ice cream - pomegranate and sesame. I'll have Gustave take you up to the restaurant."
"Bonjour Messieurs-dames. Pliz take a seat and in a moment I will be wiz you."
Guy in suit: "I tell you honey, this is the best place in town. Where else could I get an ice cream sundae as long as my arm?"
In case you were wondering, Gustave is really called Rick and comes from Birmingham. He's working at Murray's to fund his way through drama school, and to practice his accents.
Fourth wall:
This is my first MOC post in several months... it's been a busy summer/autumn and while I have been doing some MOCing, I haven't managed to photograph and post any of it until now. This is also possibly the first almost-real-world building I've ever built. I wanted to use some non-standard building techniques to get the cone shape, an idea I got from some of Dave Kaleta's MOCs. I'm quite pleased with the effect although it is a bit fragile!
My wife tells me that at some angles this looks more like a skull. I can't see it myself.
Ice cream of DOOOM!!! Mwahahahahahahah!!!!!!

It's good but the blue an green long plates are sort of distracting and would look better if it was all tan (except the ice cream of course).
I know! Unfortunately I ran out of tan plates, hence the stripes. I guess I need to invest in a few more building-y sets. |

Wow man, talk about a "sweet" ice cream shop! This things design is just fantastic! The green tiles with the black tiles actually looks really cool! Overall this is one of the coolest MOCs I have ever seen! Great job :) |
