Duplo Track Layout 1
04/03/07: An original track layout with Duplo tracks from the sets featuring Thomas and Friends.
About this creation
I was inspired by the track layouts on this page: Cavefish.net. That guy uses Lego Duplo Intelli Trains, but they run on the same track. He has a lot more track than I do, but I got some good ideas from his layouts.

The thing I really wanted to do with this layout was create an elevated section. I had to use about twice as many supports as the guy with the Intelli Trains since I knew that my kids would be pushing their trains across it, and it had to withstand some pressure greater than the weight of the train. It worked great. My kids played with it all evening. They both like to connect as many trains together as they think they can handle. They both stopped at four this time. I hope the new sets for 2007 include more troublesome trucks.

I built this layout with pieces from the following sets:

  • 5552 James at Knapford Station
  • 5555 Toby at Wellsworth Station
  • 5556 Percy at the Water Tower
  • 65766 Thomas Bridge & Tunnel Set (includes 3774 Bridge and extra tracks)
  • 65773 James and Percy Tunnel Set (includes 5552 James at Knapford Station and 5556 Percy at the Water Tower)
  • 3300 Harold the Helicopter (no tracks)
  • 3301 Cranky-Loading Crane (two tracks)

The trains and stations are (admitedly) not original creations. I just copied the pictures on the box. I built this layout 04/03/2007.
