The Gertrüde device is the Unions latest super weapon. It is a super heavy self propelled artillery, and is currently the largest and heaviest land vehicle in the Union, if not in the entire world. The device can fire various ammunition types, with the largest one being 450MM. The vehicle is mostly accompanied by a dozen AA vehicles, tanks and munition trucks to supply this monster with enough shells. The range of the weapon is estimated to be around 20-40 KM.
It is also one of the first vehicles build and posted in the Unions 'new style'. Switching from dark and light grey to just dark grey with black and light grey highlights.
About this creation
The Union started the development of the device around October 2025. The ministry of armament stated that they wanted to have a super heavy artillery based on the Ogre chassis and being able to fire shells as large as 400MM. To accomodate such a weapon a erected hull of the Ogre was build and modified to accomodate the demands. The gun was first a larger version of Belgica's Achangle which could fire shells of 350MM.
Here showing the only pic of the first version. Note the extremely long gun.
After testing the vehicle the ministry said it would be better to let it use a rail gun, because of the benefits these weapons heave over conventional ones. The Chairman also agreed that such a weapon would require a railgun. Designers made a larger stripped down version of the rail gun used by the Ogre, and added three fins to obsorb the heat created when firing.
The back of the vehicle, showing the two cranes, and the loading mechanism.
Side view, note that this version still uses old style small wheels. While most new styled vehicles in the Union use larger overlapping wheels.
Another shot of the back, not the engine hatch. More on that later.
The new 20MM automatic sentry gun is currently in mass production to replace all other sentry guns used on tanks, IFV's or these kind of vehicles. The prototype had a human gunner sticking out of the hatch. With this new sentry turret such thing isn't needed anymore, even tough it needs to be controlled safely from the inside of the vehicle.
When deploying these two stabilizers are folded out, to absorb some of the impact caused by the blast when firing.
Also to get on the vehicle we have this small ladder, this can be folded up when driving, so now one can sneak onto it easily.
After all this the gun is aimed.
the cranes lift the heavy shells and place it in the loading tray. It can fire faster since we use two cranes, instead of one to place shells. The cranes are located on the right and left side of the vehicle.
Here we have the entrance to the inner vehicle.
When removing the roof we have this spacious compartment where the crew controls everything on this moster. Note the coffee dispenser
Another shot, in the corner you can also see a fire extinguisher.
Also the gun itself can be removed so we all can see the massive engine that propels this monster.
The engine hatch openend so the engine can be taken out easily.
The engine, very similar to all engines used in the Unions armoured vehicles.
The gun itself.
Here you still can see traces of the original normal gun.
Another one with the gun lowered.
And ofcourse none of my creations is complete with some good old propaganda.
The name of the vehicle comes from my mother, since she was one of the person who helped trough a really depressic stage of my life.
Stats for Conflict:
Heavy (very expensive) artillery
Attack Strength: 60
Rate of Fire: 15
At first I just glanced at the picture at the top of the page and though "huh, this is cool but it would be better if it was minifig scale." I scroll down and DEAR GOD IT'S MINIFIG SCALE! It's amazing the way the vehicle opens to see the crew compartment and engine! Very cool, and the coffee maker in the crew compartment is a nice touch.
That is fantastic, I love the interior and engine design. The gun is frightening, but don't rail guns have zero recoil? The stabilizers are useless then. I like the cranes doing the loading, very cool idea. Overall great build. ~cheers
Looks good but has a feel to it I dont like. Maybe if you got rid of the technic peices, and smoothened it out a bit. I like the interior, engine, and gun, but I was hoping for a more conventional railgun. Still is totaly awesome, worth 5*.
