Santa Fe SD45 2B
Santa Fe SD45 2B cabless B unit in six wide
About this creation
The second in my occasional series of B units, to go with the BNSF and predesessors theme I chose a Santa Fe SD45 2B unit. It would appear from the pics that some of these units had the flared radiators at the 'short hood' end and some not, I get the impression some were rebuilts from cabbed locos and others built without cabs

The basic design again follows the official Lego 6 wide style. As it is pretty much a blue box with yellow ends and some grills I thought I would have a go SNOT lettering the Santa Fe lettering. It ended up bigger and less representative of the real lettering than I hoped, but I'm still quite pleased with it as my first lettering attempt.

Side on. Note the 3 axle bogies/trucks. The centre axle slides to negotiate curves

I was pleased with the way I got the sloped grills, but it took some redesigns

The lettering. Its a bit skinny, not rounded enough and the S is strange, but oh well

The lettering is a bit odd, but it looks fine from a distance. These are amazing trains you have built, and you picked a great place as a background for the images. Lee.
