This is a 1989 Ford/Quality Manufacturing pumper. It has a 1000 gpm pump with a top mounted controls and a 1000 gallon water tank. It is built on a Ford C8000 Chassis and has a 237 Hp Diesel engine. It is typical of the many thousand volunteer fire engines built on the ubiquitous Ford C Series that was produced from 1957 to 1990.

About this creation

The Ford C Series remains by far the most used chassis, commercial or custom, for fire apparatus. In its amazing 33 year production run over a quarter-million C Series trucks of all types were built. A significant number were used for fire apparatus. Just about every manufacturer active during that time built on the Ford C. Many Ford C apparatus remain active in the fire service despite the fact that the youngest of these are in their third decade of service.

Quality Manufacturing, Inc., started in 1962 as a heavy equipment repair business in Talladega, Alabama. After rehabbing military fire apparatus Quality began building its own fire apparatus in 1976. The company quickly grew into a nationally-known builder of a complete line of apparatus. In 1997 Quality was acquired by Spartan Motors. In 2002 Quality slipped into history as Spartan Motors launched Crimson Fire through a consolidation of Quality and Luverne Fire Apparatus. BFD552@gmail.com

Awesome! I try to figure out how you manage to get so much style in your fire trucks. Each truck looks very different but I am sure one could recognize yours even in a bunch of trucks, even if you haven't seen them before.

Gotta love a Ford C! I think every department has had one of these around here. I can think of atleast 6 or 7 right off the top of my head. Great build LFM!
