Chimera-Station: 4th floor and part of 3rd floor
Project in progress: You are looking at the 4th floor of the Chimera station
About this creation
Actually the main basis on the planet Chimera consists of 4 floors. The ground floor is the Mech-base for ultra-light, light and medium mechas. The 2nd floor is the fighter base that will be home base to several fighters. The third floor will host headquarters, some pilot’s rooms, the cantina and a recreational-deck. The last and 4th floor has sleeping rooms for some of the commanding officers, a conference room for the council members, a lecture room for mission explanations, a tower control and a small landing facility for shuttles. What I haven’t made up my mind yet is at which floor the space metro will arrive (either at the 2nd floor or at the 3rd floor. The space metro will connect to more buildings (still to come) of the Chimera city.
Obviously the whole Chimera basis is not ready yet. You are looking at the last and 4th floor of the station. It consists of some different modules. The main part (floor 1 to floor 2) will be rather “bulky” with many architectural features. So do not take into account the “feet” this basis you are looking at stands on, since they are provisional ones until 1st to 3rd floor is ready (will take me a year, I suppose).
In general, what is very important to me, is not only the looks, but also some functionality with features and most important of all stability and playability. The whole architecture needs to stay firm on “its feet” without falling apart. Playability means, that kids should be able to play with it: inside and outside. All this means: Opening up a lot of hatches and roofs in order to play also in the inside, without affecting negatively stability while the whole project shows a consistent architecture (meaning looks gooooood)!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy it

the last floor or section of Chimera Basis consists of a landing zone for shuttles, a conference room for commanding officers (in the front), a lecture auditorium (opposite of landing zone) and...

... the tower control (right side in the back), several dorms (left side in the back) consisting of an upper level for the commanders and a lower level for the pilots.

I forgot the connecting modules. In this picture there are two modules, a 3 exit and a 4 exit module.

Here is a pic of the tower control. It has a vertical connecting module in order to acces the main station (under construction). The connecting module as well as tower control open up.

Here is a view I like a lot. I have positioned a slave flash behind the module when taking this shot.

Here is the basis from another angle. In general do not bother about the feet the basis is standing on, as it is provisional until the whole thing is ready.

Here another angle showing the landing platform, a close up of the landing platform, which actually has a nice feature...

by truning the technic wheel part of the platform goes up or down, allowing the mechanics to better access the shuttles or ships for repairs to be done.

I like my version of the jedi fighter (see model in another folder), especially on the plattform. I will build an own Chimera shuttle, but at the moment I have run out of ideas.

This is the technic wheel for moving the platform up and down.

Here you have a pic of the landing module itself. As all otherr modules it connects through technic pins.

The back of the conference room. I admit building it was quite a task.

I wanted the conference room to open up and it sure does. The only thing about the conference room is that orange piece. I need a red one, but my visit to Legoland is in a month.

But not enough I built another feature into the conference room. It has a panel like a board, that pops up out of the floor whenever needed by the officers for presentation purposes.

Here a caption of the two connecting modules. I will built to other types of connecting modules. One tube with one entry and one exit and one with 3 exits in T-form.

Maybe I will built a connecting module in form o a star with 5 exits, but I am not sure. Anyway the roof of the connecting modules may be detached for easier access.

Inner Access is important for playability, so the roof also of the lecture room opens up. At least I remember when I was a kid it was very important to also play in the inside of a model. Need more tiles!

The dorms. They are connected by a vertical tube (fixed not module) through which an elevator goes through.

Also this one opens up, not everyone is happy about it (the guy in that toilet is not). On the opposite side is the shower room (not shown).

and other takes showing the elevator. When I have more tiles Ill fill the back of the elevator shaft. This elevator will connect the 2nd level (main station) and is the second access.

Ok, since this is modular you may connect the modules in different ways. Here two stations can be built just by connecting to each other.

Well, Goldman doesn't do anything this peaceful, and he puts more easter eggs in (hint, hint).
Really good functionality, lots of fun playables, but it really does need those easter eggs. Maybe some snow. Definitely some space hippy painting on the wall. The ground floor should have a recruiting office, with some protesters, some mechs cleaning up the "mess" and then a janitor bot cleaning up that mess. |

Looks a lot like a mini Goldman MOC [which doesn't mean it's small], which isn't a bad thing. Excellent job, 5/5. |
