About this creation
Entry #1 for CCCIX.

Those who have been following my activity on flickr, probably know about this. I am following the storyline of the Hobbit, and creating different scenes along the way as entries for the Classic Castle Colossal Contest IX. I hope you guys like it. Flickr stream

Did you upload this on LEGO.com in a building challenge? I saw this on the contest page by someone called blego20, and remembered seeing it here, and wanted to know if he stole it from you.

"There were three very large persons sitting round a very large fire of beech-logs. They were toasting mutton on long spits of wood, and licking the gravy off their fingers." –The Hobbit A great scene in the book. I love your rendition of it, your attention to detail and brilliant parts use really bring it to life.

Amazing work! I love the funny little details, such as owls as hands, grey hair as stones and ewoks and wookiees as bags. Is this for 'the great Hobbit Contest'?

The use of those Owls for the forearms is superb! I would have liked a few more photos of the surrounding landscape too. All the same this is a sweet little build Blake, well done! ~Thoy

Very nicely done, Blake! I am having a hobbit contest right now, so you should use this as an entry, it would work perfectly. Like Thoy said, the use of the owls looks excellent as well as the surrounding landscape.

Very cool build. Of course the Chewbacca parts remind of an email I got a while back....it had a Lego Stormtrooper at the dinner table and his son(a short storm-trooper), with a Lego Chewbacca on the plate. The son asked what was for dinner, and the father said "Wookie Steak"...the son asks,"is it any good?". And of course the father says...."It's a little Chewie!"

Brilliant - as always. Your use of pieces is incredible like the owl for a stone hand and Chewbaccas for hairy carcasses. The trolls are superb, and the idea to have them half being turned into stone is genius. Way to go!
