My first exhibit and workshop at Lasting Toys , Mississauga, ON, Canada
About this creation
Today was the day, my first live appearance teaching the young and young at heart to build legoformers. I finally did my first public exhibition of some of my creations at Lasting Toys click here , a local Lego and Lego related only toy store which I have been frequenting for the past 5 years. It was a fun filled day of Q & A, me lecturing on how to make legoformers, builds and great conversation with all involved.

PS - if you look closely you will see some legoformer MOCs that I have not posted yet. See if you can pick them out. Don't worry they will get their own page eventually. Happy building!

PSS - you finally get to see my ugly mug!

..and the local paper is doing a little blurb on me.

My Exhibit...

A sampling of my regular Size Legoformers...

My new miniformers on display...

Teaching the next generation of Legoformer builders.

I see, I wasn't sure if this was more than just a hobby, as you put a lot of time and effort into your MOCs and related content. In all honesty, I couldn't work with LEGO full time, it would be fun but I always take a while to produce something and run into snags and creative blocks along the way. You wouldn't want to know how long it took me to make the Urocyon. However, that doesn't seem to apply to you, it appears you can make high quality MOCs within a reasonable time.

Awesome work Chris, activities involving working with builders to refine their skills is what I enjoy seeing builders with your level of skill take part in. While it is a rare occurrence, I really hate seeing great builders become arrogant and snobby. I really hope those who came to see you in action really enjoyed the experience.

Yeah, I like videos games, but they require little creative power in most cases, I really hate games that involve little customization or problem solving. If games like Armored Core and Minecraft didn't exist, I would have an even smaller interest in video games than I already have now. Also, did you mention MOC Pages to your audience, for those who were interest in doing more with LEGOs?

Let's hope that a lot of them wind up here, who knows what they will create thanks to your inspirations. Also, I've been wondering, do you do this as simply as a hobby or do you make your living as an artist?

LOL! A hobby (and stress releif) for now. I made a few models for sale in the past and a few commmisions coming up for next year. It would be cool to play with Lego full time but alas I manage a large technical workforce by day!For now!

Its cool to discuss creativity and building techniques when the majority of your audience is into video games instead of hands on play! I hope I inspired and freed some young (and young at heart) minds! All and all, I've had nothing but positive feedback from the experience. Looking forward to doing it again soon!

Not a big fan of purple transformers, and Lego is not a big supplier of purple bricks. I always wanted an Astro Magnum (Shackwave) as a kid as I thought a purple transformer was a little poofy. Never got either. But I just picked an Astro Magnum up on ebay in box and minty should arrive this week. Memories!
Quoting Michael Crichton "Do your homework on shockwave the answer lies in the past. Hint hint!" Shackwave! I figured you just went with grey because of the lack of purple pieces, but you have a toy-accurate reason for it. Bravo!

yep right on the money, there were adults drooling, kids needing to get away from halo and call of duty and I was indeed looking for my replacement so I can retire. LOL! It was a pretty fun day for both me and my audience both young an old. It was definitely something I will be doing again.
Quoting Raymond Drum That's really neat how you got out and interacted with everyone there to show them some of the amazing things that can be done with lego bricks. Not just the kids but, I'm sure there were adults there drooling as well, yes? I think the best part of it all really is showing them that there's other things to do with their hands besides wrapping them around a game controller. That concept with their imagination could take them who knows where. In fact, you possibly could have inspired your replacement when and IF you ever retire. LOL
