P-51 Mustang "Jersey Jerk," as flown by Major Don Strait, of the 361st Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group. Strait was the commanding officer of the 361st FS, and also the top ace of the entire 356th FG. The 356th was easily distinguished by their nose paint; blue diamonds on top of a red nose. After the war, Strait went on to become a Major General, and hlod many commands throughout the Air Force and Air National Guard.
