Trihedron T-RK7 Spacefighter
The Trihedron T-RK7 is a single-seat space fighter/interceptor.
About this creation

Introduction

This Trihedron T-RK7 is directly inspired from the Universal War One comic’s series from Denis Bajram. This particular model is illustrated in the first two chapters of the story. A model variant and a bomber version appear in the following chapters.

The original models are depicted under a light-grey uniform colour scheme and I decided to use mainly a Lego Classic Space blue & yellow colour scheme instead; mainly because I thought it would be nicer and also because I lacked some light grey bricks as well.

I found an online 3D model of the Trihedron here. A first Lego attempt of the advanced Trihedron is also available here.

The excellent image retouching work is courtesy of Geoffroy Snyers.

Ship Characteristics

The Trihedron T-RK7 is a single-seat space fighter/interceptor and is the fastest spaceship from Tri-Aerospace, a consortium composed of Boeing, Daewoo, and Benz). The ship propulsion is ensured by 4 anti-gravitational Casimir/Landstadt engine modules from General Matshushita Motors.

The T-RK7 is equipped with a heavy laser of 10 Megawatts on starboard.

The four engines and the heavy laser are powered by a 150 Megawatts energetic core unit Tokamak T11.

The presence of the anti-gravitational modules explains why this beautiful ship does not need to have any landing gear.

The Model

Nothing much to say except that I quickly decided to try some SNOT technique instead of using plates for the wings. I think the result renders quite well. Attaching the top wing was a mini-challenge but the effect is guaranteed. It is aligned and on top of the reactor but without touching it.

The ship is in minifig scale.

An interesting top-down view of the Trihedron showing is very particuliar shape.

The Cockpit

The cockpit was trickier to assemble as Lego are not meant to fit at 45 degrees angles on the side. I manage to slide in a plate between 2 angles under the wings. The kind of rails would prevent the plate from falling down. The wings would prevent it to move up. There are also a couple of studs at the rear side that block the plate at exactly the right height and in front two plate blocking the computers and preventing the entire cockpit to move forward.

That way, I could even respect the original design of the ship and have the front panel to open like in the comics.

The pilot has a comfortable seat and his head is next to the yellow windows. Computer commands are available on his left and right sides.

The Pilot, a glorious member of the United Earthes Force (UEF).

Conclusion

This was a very enjoyable build and I will probably soon build some variants.

oh, and did you notice that the large yellow "2" on the top wing become a "5" when looking from portside ? ;)

Love it, building on the angle is always a challenge. You pulled it off and it looks cool to boot.

Quoting Lee McDonough Awesome! I saw the thumbnail and was wondering..is that what I think it is? I think you modeled it very well. I am a big fan of the comic. I would have like to seen it in a dark gray/bluish, but you do a good job with the blue/yellow scheme. Good Job!
Thank you. :) I also first wanted to make it gray like in the comic but I simply lack the blocks. Moreover, I think it would be have been quite boring as colour scheme.

Hey Man, From What I Am Able To Compare To The Original, I Feel That You Nailed It. In all honesty, I don't have a whole lot to say about the MOC, if it were something originally made by you, I would critique this more, so unless you are doing a custom variant, I'll save my opinions on the design. Like I said, I don't have a lot to say, but that's mainly due to the fact the MOC speaks for itself, and it does so very well. The issues I have with the MOC is the is the links in the beginning appear to be broken, well, it gave me a file not found, so I had to Google the series to see a reference pic. Other than that, fine work.
