Haha I love the Evil Dead films they're so c-rap they're funny! You nailed it here! I love the whole scene and the highlighted Army Darkness around the bottom. It shows you really wanted that final place and you deserve it! Best of luck in the final and I look forward to seeing what you create :-) |

Great ideas, Leda! Thanks. The last one might be fun to do but... I've already started the other one I'm sure you would like it. Do you think the judges would mind if I did two? Hehe, that's funny... there's a popcorn add right next to where I'm typing. Hmm...
I don't think the judges would mind if you did two. Gio did two and a half and the judges were happy with that. I would recommend only doing two though if your first one is not quite perfect enough to get you through to the next round on its own. If you can do one really awesome poster then there is no reason to do two. Good luck kid! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you create. |

Woohoo 4 votes Leda! R7 here you go! Gutted, after seeing what George and Jason created I feel a little bummed I didn't get through R5. I had the meanest idea for Forced Perspective... It could have been a kiwi final :(
A kiwi final would have been great! What I just realised (yesterday on the bus ride home from work) was just how international this contest is. In the semi finals we have a Kiwi, a Canadian, a Brit and a Belgium. It makes me smile actually, thinking about how four little people in four little corners of the globe spent the last 10 days frantically building Lego... |

I agree completely with Matt in that the build just kept getting better with each pic. I really love the design in this one, and the detailing is just wonderful. I had to step out of the judging for a bit due to a move, but I'm back for the round, and wanted to let ya know (though this round is already decided, given the numbers) that you've got my vote as well. Great idea and BRILLIANT execution with the composition and details!
Thanks so much Mark! Hope the move went well and your life can get back to the important things like Lego again. |

I'm not really surprised that you saved your best work for the category that was practically created for you. What started with an amazing one-photo-type presentation (those are the best, you know ;-)) quickly became even more intriguing as you broke the build down to show all of the phases -- like watching the special features to The Phantom Menace. I also really love the way you integrated (and illuminated!) the text. Simply stunning. Oh yeah, you've got my vote.

Amazing! As always the atmosphere and lighting highlights the build as only you can! The title is really quite cool, as is the entire build. The rockwork and castle/fort is masterfully built, and everything fits perfectly. It looks like you're trying to give DeTomaso Pantera a run for his money with all that cheese! Great work, and good luck in the competition! |

Absolutely brilliant lighting, perspective and posing here. The amount of detail you put into the back of the castle, which isn't even visible in the poster, shows how much care you take with your creations as ever. Even with 3 (?) judges votes in this one is still too close to call! |

Brilliant, just plain brilliant! I absolutely love it. Every little detail is just perfect. I have received this same category (weird coincidence I know) in the MIT and you just gave me some brilliant ideas like with all that awesome wording below the MOC and the forced perspective. My idea actually wouldn't be able to possibly have forced perspective because of my poster choice, but that might change. Got any classic movie ideas for me, Leda? Oh and great job you deserve to win this whole contest (than the line of Daves would be gone)!
Wow you have the same category again?! That's three in a row. I'm really happy you got through with your last entry, I really liked that one. Congratulations. What was that about the line of Daves? I'm sorry I don't really understand that... as to classic movie ideas... well, of the few that I considered before I settled for this one was "Psycho" "Mary Poppins" "the Hunchback of Notre Dame" (original 1920s version with Lon Chaney) "the Phantom of the Opera" and "Moulin Rouge"... but you know what I'd love to see from somebody such as yourself who has a real thirst for photography and lighting: http://www.moviegoods.com/Assets/product_images/1020/210405.1020.A.jpg |

Oh my freakin' Lego! Leda! That is utterly fan-tas-tic! I don't know the movie, not a fan of the genre, but the translation into bricks is striking! My fav part is your idea of posing this in a triangular view, giving both left and right a good deal of dept in perspective; genius. Not to mention the transparent title and excellent photography. I think you got me here...oh, and nice car too ;). Good luck with your final (?) judge!
Thanks Gio that means a lot to me. This contest has been great to force me to heighten my skill, both in building and presentation. When you have to make something every ten days and battle with extremely talented builders (and in a few cases really close friends too) we just kinda get in the zone huh... keep improving every week. Things like that triangle thing would never have popped into my head without this contest. I will be sad when its over I think, even though I am so exhausted! I'm predicting a tie breaker with our two entries. Good luck mate! |

And now, I can see this very good job.
I really like how you managed to create the forced perspective of the castle, and the woman's legs that goes on 'car. This poster was definitely not easy to be reinterpreted with Lego, but you Leda, did you do that.

Leda, I recognised your poster from the thumbnail, so you really stayed true to the original classic. Thus far, yours and Gio's MOCs are both brilliant. The first surprise came when I scrolled down and saw the whole picture with the beautiful rock work and the title (I'm sure you're glad now that I demanded the title).
Then I discovered all the details and the next surprise came when I saw how you managed to do the part with the little Ashs - that is a perfect idea.
In addition to all that, you presented your MOC with the alost exact lightning that they used for the poster.
To sum it all up: You got my vote.
Thor, I always look forward to your comments. When such talented artists like you and the other judges give in-depth, focused and glowing praise (when you really don't need to, you can totally just say "I vote for you") it motivates me to keep outdoing myself with each next moc, just to hear somebody like you say they like it :) You do more than just look and enjoy, it is obvious you take time to really, really explore a person's creation, and I appreciate that. Thank you for the vote of confidence. And yes, I did that title through gritted teeth, I did it, but I did it on my terms. Haha, cheers dude! |

Well done mate, when you said you were doing a film from a trilogy I wouldn't have guessed at Evil Dead! Good choice, leaving some difficult challenges in scale and posing but I think you've done a great job and as per usual your lighting and photography are top notch, really capturing the ambience of the poster. Good luck to you!
Ha difficult challenges in scale and posing is an understatement! I got the figs and the car and the lettering sorted then looked back at the poster and noticed the difficulties that lay ahead regarding scale... by then I was running out of time so couldn't start over with a different movie so had to just improvise a bit. I know it looks odd with the castle so small behind the Deadites, and the Deadites aren't all on horses either (they would never have fit!) had to kind of bring the forced perspective into full view. Whether it works or not is yet to be determined... |
