New, from your Friendly Neighbourhood Evil Communist Dictatorship!
About this creation

Ladies and Gentlemen, children of all ages! I am pleased to present the new bley beast that is: the A-39 Gila Close Air Support Vehicle. Designed and manufactured by the Free People's Republic of Mongolia (with a bit of OeK in there for flavor), the Gila was designed to be a powerful asset to the modern, industrially revolutionized Mongolian army.
The model shown is the close anti-armor support variant, outfitted with a set of five guided munitions and a thermal/radio countermeasures pod, just in case.

The name Gila was given for the vehicle's side profile. It kind of reminds me of a lizard.

I really love the back of this thing. I don't know why, but I do.

Here's the A-39, pilot loaded, about to take off. Notice the exposed lift fan and rotated engines. The handy thing about jet VTOLs like this is that there are no spinning blades of death, allowing an ejector seat to actually be usefully implemented.

Hovering, before transition to full horizontal flight. "But wait, you fool!" You might say. "The engines are blocking the missiles!"

No worries, we got that covered.

The front, clearly. It's not terribly aerodynamic, but was designed to scare air out of the way, or else bludgeon it to death. Also, a powerful speaker in the nose may be activated to play Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries". Scares the crap out of 'em...

First glance at this, I thought, dang thats mean looking. This baby looks big, bad and in charge. Your engine detailing and back wings especially impressed me, although the overall shape and side builing techniques looked great too. Well done here, can't wait to see some of your other creations. |

The hinge for the engines look clumsy, but great work! And isn't it green for port and red for starboard?

This is SUPA!!! When the engines were blocking the missiles and you got the problem under cover, you actually got it "uncovered" so the missles were no longer covered... just a thought. This Gila is pretty amazing though.

The vtol feature makes it similar to an f35 but the missiles and two main engines make it look like an a-10 warthog althought it could do with a nose mounted gatling cannon or a machine gun similar to an apache which would rotate :)
I considered a chin gun, but I couldn't get anything that looked right. |

Nifty aircraft. I especially like the use of the nosecone technique that's been floating around, which you used for the engine pods. Very nicely done, and if it needed improvement, I would say add a little color. ^Blub^ |
