X-Wing Fighter (A Retro Build)
A model of the X-wing fighter I built some 7 to 10 years ago
About this creation
One from the vault.....

Here is my take on the iconic X-wing fighter from the original Star Wars Trilogy which I built some 7 to 10 years ago when I first got back into Lego as an adult and before I knew of MOCpages. I remember not being happy with the official Lego release at that time so I bought a few key pieces from ebay and used my childhood lego to build this. (You can notice the dirty and warn lego bricks from my youth) Enjoy and be kind!

thanks... but unfortunately no royalty check for me from TLG for using my design elemets LOL!
Quoting Gilkah Balcada The wings remind me of the McQuarrie concept paintings because they taper more than the screen version. The thrusters look a bit long, but I love the laser cannons. It's also brilliant that you got the S-foils to close completely. I'm amazed at how many tweaks of yours have been incorporated into TLG's 2012 X-wing model, like the wide sloped bricks on the wings and the sticks through the parabola element on the cannon tips. That's one set I won't be able to pass up!

Hmmm, I enjoy how the overall clean and simple design of this MOC doesn't sacrifice any of the details needed to make this feel like an X-Wing. Nice work as always.

I love the fact that you kept this - it's a really good build and an improvement on Lego's own early version.

IF I uncover anymore of my old intact creations in storage. I will post them! There may only be one or two more at best.
Quoting andros tempest I'd be more than happy to say I'd built this. And it doesn't look 10 years old. However as a model of the actual movie model there is a slight issue with the nose cone. I can't put my finger on what I'm uncomfortable with, but it just feels like it isn't the right shape. Beyond that, anything that isn't EXACTLY like the original I'm inclined to mark up to artistic license. The scale is much closer to film accurate in comparison to a minifig. One of the biggest issues of the official set (and the hasbro models) of the X-Wing is they are too short, but you fixed that brilliantly. Colours are spot on, though I suspect a more stud-less version would be possible, it's not a deal breaker for me (I like the odd stud visible, reminds me that we are working with lego). so what else is coming out of the classic cupboard?

Don't beatyourself up. This is way better than the first official set. Maybe your version helped the preceding generations of Lego X-Wings improve? Good work.

Haha nose job gone wrong ;-). I think this is great. Much better than the original set. I collected most of the original star wars sets it was also what dragged me out of my 1st dark age. I really like your imperial shuttle too!

Wait! This doesn't transform into a robot? Ohhhh, it's an old build. The engines and wings look pretty cool. The only thing that bugs me is the wedge plates at the end of the nose facing the wrong direction. Other than that, this is pretty good for an "out-of-the-dark-ages" build!
