The Hobbit, or There and Back Again by J.R.R Tolkien is my favorite book. I'm a very big fan of Bilbo and the dwarves and their journey to the Erebor... So I decided to post a LEGO version. I know that it is a hard piece of work, so every advice or ideas for characters and locations are welcome. (This time I sadly used the wrong camera settings, but after episode 3 they will be better. And yes, the door to Bag End should be green.... XD) Enjoy!
About this creation

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit....

Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort. The hole was on the top of a hill and the hobbit's name was Baggins.

The Bagginses had lived in the neighbourhood of The Hill for time out of mind, and people considered them very respectable, not only because most of them were rich, but also because they never had any adventures or did anything unexpected.

This is a story of how a Baggins had an adventure, and found himself doing and saying things altogether unexpected...

'Oh! Good Morning!'

What do you mean? Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?'

'Um... All of them at once. And a very fine morning for a pipe of tobacco out of doors, into the bargain.'

'Thank you, but I don't have time for it, today. I'm looking for someone to participate on an adventure, and I can tell you that it is very hard to find one.'

'I can understand this very well. We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner! I can't think what anybody sees in them. Good Morning! We do not want any adventures here, thank you!'

'What a lot of things you do use Good morning for! Now you mean that you want to get rid of me, and that it won't be good till I move off.'

'Not a bit, sir! Please tell me your name. I don't think that I know it.'

'You know it, although you don't remember that it is my name. I am Gandalf, and Gandalf means me! To think that I should have lived to be good-morninged by Belladonna Took's son, as if I was selling buttons at the door!' 'Gandalf!', said Bilbo. 'Good gracious me! Not the fellow who used to tell such wonderful tales at parties, about dragons and goblins and giants and the rescue of princesses and the unexpected luck of widows' sons?'

'I'm happy to hear that you remember me at all. In fact, I will go as far as to send you on this adventure. Very amusing for me, very good for you - and profitable too, very likely, if you ever get over it.'

'Sorry! I don't want any adventures, thank you. Not today. Good morning! But, please come to tea – any time you like! Why not tomorrow?'

With that, the hobbit turned and scuttled inside his round green door, and shut it as quickly as he dared, not to seem rude. Wizards after all are wizards.

'Phew... Oh! - what on earth did I invite him to tea for?'

To be continued...

Quoting Kathryn Gaul Hello Michael....I've only just found you today! I'm really impressed with your creativity and look forward to viewing some more of your work. I'd like to ask - where is The Hobbit Lego available and can Thorin's beard be removed from the figurine? I'd like to make him more like Richard Armitage's version of Thorin in Peter Jackson's upcoming movies. Bye for now, Kathryn (BTW...I'm 65!)
Thanks for the comment! I'm really happy that you like my customs! Official Lego the HOBBIT sets aren't available yet, but they will be published at the end of this year. Lord of the Rings will come in Summer 2012! (and yes, the beard can be removed from the minifigure)

Quoting Mark Murphy You probably get tired of hearing this, but I think Bilbo's hair and torso should change. Your pictures could be better. I do like your build though. ~Mark
Umm... yes, I'm tired of hearing this, but perhaps I should add some more negative comments on your MOCs. (Hehe, no, just kidding ;))

Quoting Mr Viking I've got no idea, as he isn't on MOCpages. However, I would think he would be willing. Go to Classic-Castle, then go to links, then you should find one that says Bricktales. If you click on that, it will take you to his site, and the Lord of the Rings are on there.
Is it this what you mean? http://www.classic-castle.com/bricktales/lotrstory605.html

Quoting Mr Viking Actually, one guy did a really good Eagle in his LOTR story.
What's his name? Do you think that he is willing to let me use his design, if I don't find a way by myself?

Quoting Mr Viking I was planning to do both of them in full-length stop-motion, but I'm not sure if I would be able to pull it off.
Same here. There will always be some very difficult things, such as the stone giants, the Great Eagles, epic battles, and big buildings.

Quoting Mr Viking BTW, two questions. 1. When can we expect the next one? 2. When you've finished this, will you be doing one on the LOTR, The Silmarillion, or The Children of Hurin?
The next one will be up around next weekend, but it will take a very long time until this project is ready. Pehaps, after I'm ready I'll start another one, but I have to admit that the Silmarillion or the LOTR Trilogy would be much more work...

Thank you, Nathan! The cape is from Lando Calrissian (Mon Calamari Cruiser) and the hat is from the good wizard (LEGO castle fantasy era).

Quoting RC 1710 "Deff" Great!
