My entry for the 16-100 pieces category in Yuri Fassio's Spinning Top Contest 2011.
There is some music down there, I suggest you turn it on now for the atmosphere. I haven't been active in the DA group lately, but don't you worry - I've made some cool mechs by that time and I'm sure to upload them "soon". I've got The Burner Boy, The Mecha-Blupi, This one and The Collossus ready, and I'm working also on The Auto-mole.
Anyway this mech, The Topsquito, hovewer silly it may sound, is, aside from this year's entry for Yuri's top competition, the newest DA mech. Two birds in one stone! How do you like that? Anyway, enough chitter-chatter, let's get down to business. This mech may not look as powerful as I intended it to be, but keep in mind that I had to fit into the 100 pieces restrictions. This mech is fused with the DNA of a mosquito. You know how mosquitoes are annoying? Of course you do. Well, this one would annoy you to death. It has got two rotor quick-fire quadra plasma guns, a portable shield generator and the awesome capability to transform into a deadly top armed with giant blades in seconds (well, I WISH it was seconds with the Lego creation). Normal soldiers don't stand a chance against him in the top mode, as he simply scythes them away as he moves on - and he does that fast, so he's hard to target, too. It transforms into its normal mode when fighting with enemy mechs and such - therefore, it's like two robots in one, capable of adapting to the battle conditions. The best way to destroy it is to blast it with a missile when it is transforming, drop a bomb on it when it's in top mode or simply make it crash into something hard. It's still a toughie, though - plus, it has got one special ability, gained from the mosquito DNA - it runs purely on glucose, which he burns and stores the energy in artifical adenosine triphosphate. That way, he needn't be charged or reloaded in any way; and there's no way to cut it away from its energy.
About this creation
Info for the contest: This top weights exactly 100 pieces and is capable into transforming into a giant robot without altering any pieces.
Tune in some cool music! Topsquito's theme:
I'm not embedding it because Mocpages keeps rejecting the HTML code.
The mech in top mode. Notice the threatening blades along the frame.
One of the blades. They can cut through softer rocks when spinning on max speed and can be folded if necessary.
The torso. Notice the arms and legs waiting to be unfolded and the sinister red eye.
It spins! Mabye not as good as my last year's tops, but still. With the blades extended it spins about 25 seconds, without them - for about 30 seconds.
It also balances on one stud!
Demollition derby, boys!
Care to fight something like that, Yuri? (Because the deal's same as last year - I don't win in all the categories, even the one I didn't participate in, I'm sending one of these at you! Just kidding, of course...)
It can also spin with the blades folded, but it ain't half that impressive.
And now for the transforming part.
Step 1: Fold the blades.
Step 2: Unfold the knees.
Step 3: Rotate the feet right.
Step 4: Adjust the leg angle.
Step 5: Bend the arms away.
Step 6: Twist them for that agressive look.
Step 7: Make him stand, and voila! Finished.
Step 8: Attack the lumps! (unnecessary)
Howzabout now, Yuri? Any better? Huh?
The force shield, along with the lasers, are real, of course - their generators are made entirely out of Lego bricks, too!
Its proboscis. As I've mentioned, it runs entirely on glucose.
And, well, it doesn't take it from fruits, even though the're healthy. I didn't include a splatter of youknowwhat that technically should be here, because I want to spare you the disgust. Know my kindness!
You should be thanking me.
In fact, you should be PAYING me! (kidding)
Ha! Where's your mighty flyswatter NOW?
Anyway, I don't know if I'll participate in the other categories this year - I've noticed the contest a little too late. As for the 15pcs category I've made a small trashy red top that I'll upload if I don't manage to make anything better by that time, and as for the 100+pcs category I'm building a funny fat spinning genie, but I don't think I'll make him in time. Mabye if I drop out of school and work all Friday night. Art is suffering.
