Totally rebuilt version of my first Black Hawk, featuring a way better shape.
About this creation
The Mh-60L Black Hawk variant is a modified variant of the Uh-60A. The MH(UH)-60L comes in two versions, the DAP (Direct Action Penetrator) version, and the Army Special Operations. The model I created is the DAP version.
One of the main features of the MH-60L is the upgraded T-700-GE-701C engines, which can carry 3000 more pounds then the original Uh-60. The Mh-60L features a forward infra-red radar. The Army Special Operations variant is a UH-60L with an updated cockpit, additional avionics, precision navigation systems, and Forward Looking Infra-red Radar. The Mh-60L is able to carry an External Stores Support System (ESSS), consisting of removable two four-station pylons, With the ESSS, the MH-60L can carry additional fuel tanks for extended range in self-deployment up to 1,150 miles. For anti-armor missions, it can carry 16 Hellfire missiles on the pylons, or a variety of other ordnance, including guns and rockets. and aircraft survivability equipment such as missile and radar warning systems and Infra-red jammers.
(Sikorsky Website)
My model:
One day I looked at my original Black Hawk and I said to myself "It could be a lot better."
My Uh-60L is in fact not an upgraded version of my original Uh-60A, which I have recently moved to my "retired models" folder as seen to your left. Actually, I scrapped the Uh-60A and built the Mh-60L from scratch. One main thing I upgraded was the inaccurate shape of my original design. The shape of the fuselage and tail on my original was wrong. It looks better now on my Uh-60L. Other upgrades include the Infra-red radar on the front of the nose, working cab doors and sliding bay doors, better-shaped engines, a new tailfin, a fixed rotor radius, and upgraded gear/wheels.
Please enjoy and review
Update, April 21
New updates I have included on my Uh-60L are the HIRSS and ALQ-144, thanks to Ralph for pointing out their absense, a chaff dispenser, raised rotor mast, and ESSS arms with missile launcher and machine gun.

Besides the HIRSS and ALQ-130, the Black Hawk also includes a M130 Chaff-Dispenser to confuse anti-air missiles

Front view. To make up for the absence of glass, I included windshield wipers.

On the top and bottom of the cockpit are cable cutters.

One main update are the two removable ESSS arms with 4 pylons which can hold weapons or fuel pods. I chose a missile launcher and machine gun.

Unlike many other LEGO Black Hawks, I included sliding doors.

Quoting Ben Draggon
Hello. I love this creation. One of the best Black Hawk's I have seen made in lego. I was wondering if there is anyway you could give me any type of instructions of how to make it as I am planning to re-create the whole entire "Black Hawk Down" film out of animated lego. Yes the whole 144 minutes of it. It would help me alot if I could get some form of instructions for it. I would give you full credit for it and your name would be on the end credits for sure.
Thanks,
Draggon.
Sorry Draggon, I never made instructions for it...but good luck! Feel free to use the pictures I have as reference. I didn't use many complicated techniques so it shouldnt be hard |

The MH-60K is my favorite helicopter(close enough. You did an awesome job on it. Great details and scale. Perhaps you could put a little technic ring around the barrel of the minigun? Great job on the FLIR too. |

May I imply one thing? A true BlackHawk, does not even look black at all, from close up you can see the tinted-olive-drab paint scheme. From far-away, it looks a light gray-ish. Though I guess black is the closest thing to the tinted-olive-drab of a true BlackHawk Lego sells. Or then again, I contain a close enough peice, but only one. |

Did you read about this or do you work with Blackhawks? Beyond that, I made numerous attempts to make a Blackhawk and each time I perfect it, BAMM, It falls apart. I think my Legos are cursed. O_O I hope not. Oh well, I hope one day you will make it more round-ish. Somewhere in the near future that may be possible. By the way, how do you get so many black peices? I need to find such a supplier. I work on making government vehicles and my current project is a Virginia class nuclear submarine. |

It's a lot better than the old one, though it needs some windshield glass (maybe e-mail Ralph Savelsburg for suggestions?) and the front view is a bit blocky. My Black Hawk has sliding doors too, but I think you beat them, as mine slide inside the craft, not outside. After looking at this, Alex's, and Ralph's Seahawk, I've arrived at the conclusion mine needs some help, esp. the doors. One good thing to add is some pictures of your Delta Force troopers and pilots.:-) Once again, Great job! Michael P.S. Come check mine out! |
