The Spinning Genie
My entry for the 100+ pieces category in Yuri Fassio's Spinning Top Contest 2011.
About this creation
*running in distance*
Gasp... Wheeze... Pant...
(bloodcurdling scream) AHA!!! I'm HERE!!! I've MADE IT!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!
Against -Gasp- all the -Cough- odds and Geography homework, I've managed to -Wheeze- finish the Spinning Genie in time - and in style.
So first of all, whatever you do DON'T ask me how much pieces this top has. Why? Because I haven't the faintest idea! I've lost count. By the moment I started building today, it had about 190 pieces, with the head, the body without all the fatness on it (or arms) and the belt. As for now, I think it is somewhere around 300 to 350 pieces, excluding the Hamburger Scepter of Fatness, which is just a dooda I occasionaly put in his hand just for decoration ( he couldn't spin with it in hand, heaven forbid ). But don't you worry, it's bigger than 100 pieces, allright. For simplicity's sake, let's just say it has OVER 9000 PIECES!!! And by the way, in the main photo he's really flying, of course! I'm holding him up with my awesome psyhic powers. What are you saying? Photoshop? Of course not! I've never even heard of Photoshop! ;)

Here is he. His name is Abdul, and he is the official genie of fatness. He has even got a spiffy Fatness Scepter! He uses Cloud and Ice magic and grants two and a half wish at a time. Why a half? Beats me! Anyway, he doesn't grant any wishes which include making anyone thinner.

I'm really happy with the way he came out. I've started working on him at the moment I've come back from school, and I didn't really believe that I could make it. But, fortunately, I made it! And MOODSWIM, now you're not alone with your expanding-the-definition-of-top philosophy! :)

A bottom view. At the moment I'm uploading it, it's 21 p.m., but it's worth it. That's also the reason I didn't count the pieces - I was already really tired after school, and after a while of building I felt that my brain would explode if I started counting the pieces. I hope you count this last-minute entry ( OR ELSE! ).

A side view. And just wait until I get my hands on that guy who said coffee doesn't hurt! (kidding)

A back view. The fatness went out pretty cool, and, if not for it, he couldn't spin at all; he'd be too tall and thin.

The head. Probably the best part IMO. Notice his goatee and funny spiked-up moustache. His crazy hairdo is connected to the spinning axis, and therefore to spin him you hold him by his er, ponytail.

The torso. I like the krabby patty belt buckle :)

One of his arms. The other one's the same, so you aren't missing out.

He's a Harry Potter fan!

A close-up on the scepter. It technically doesn't do anything, he uses it just to look cooler.

His arms are actually quite flexible.

And this fatso actually spins!

Whee! This is the optimal position of his arms when spinning. You can't see it on those photos, but he looks really HILARIOUS when spinning.

The arms used to be bigger and heavier, but back then, when you put them in the wrong position and spun the genie too hard, they would detach and fling away at EXTREMESPEED!
I'm not kidding, they once flew away with such a speed that they blasted every other single Lego piece off my desk in a blink of an eye! This genie is too powerful!

He spins for 8 seconds average and 10 seconds top, but this is still good for such a fatty. It's the arms that slow him down, without them he spins for 15 seconds average. Bad arms!

You wouldn't believe how many spinning photos I had to take to have him with his face toward the camera. Technically, the chance is about 25%, but if you had to take the photos you'd lose trust in Maths, too.

Abdul: AAAAAAAA!!!
This used to be his optimal arm position, but I'm glad I found a better one - paradoxally, in this position his arms used to fall off more often - and with the heavier arm design...
DEMOLLITION DERBY, BOYS!

I've tried brute force persuasuion last year ( Remember Thu-Xengi War Top? ), but I still didn't win in ALL the categories ( even the one I didn't participate in ) - and so I've decided that it ain't enough. What this calls for is HYPNOSIS!
Genie: Oammmm... By the awesome might of obesity, I command thee to make RedBlupi's entries win in ALL the categories! And by the way, give him all your money, too.

Outstanding top. Massive, imaginative and with a definite, original theme. It was worth running this contest even just to get to see this.
