The Starhound was a revolutionary Terran fightercraft developed during the Third Interstellar War. It was designed as a match for the venerable Anmari VA-29 Raider, still in use after well over a century, and built to be launched from the Federated States's Terran-built carrier fleet. Armed to the teeth, the Starhound could stand toe-to-toe with Kilean gunships with a good chance of surviving the engagement. Starhounds would see battle in every campaign of ISW3 after the failed Rannabi Truce and would go on to be the sole fightercraft used by the Terran Empire until 3397. After the absorption of the Starfarers Alliance into the Empire, the SA-181 Grendel would take over most of the starfighter roles the Starhound filled; ironically, the Grendel's design was inspired by the Starhound. The last active Starhound squadron switched to the VA-92 Arbiter in 3427, although the plane would have another century of life as part of various Commonwealth Homeguard units.
