About this creation
Hello all! Another entry for the CCC here. This one for the "Hidden Treasure" category. This will be my 7th entry, so just one more to go until I complete my list of intended creations. Thank you all for the tremendous support you guys have been showing me. This couldn't have been better. But yea, so here it is. This entry shows Bilbo's entrance into the Lonely Mountain and his first encounter with Smaug the terrible. So I hope you all enjoy it. This was my largest CC entry to date.

I know I'm late for comments, but I didn't want to have just a hasty look at your new MOCs. Instead, I wanted to enjoy them (like I do tonight). The columns are interesting. Using studs not as a necessity but as a design element is very clever. I also like that you broke two of them.

I know this is not mine to say, but since you have asked for it. I do not dare to compare our work, but I would be honored if my first Dragon gives you some ideas. If you like, check this out: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/297323

This is GORGEOUS! I loved all the beautiful stone work and treasure and thought it was excellent at just that, but then you went and turned the moc and we see the figs outside. You are a master, Blake. Well done.

Oh my gosh I just read on your homepage that you were a TFOL. I thought you were a full blown AFOL. I now have a much higher respect for you in Lego. Just because you can make MOCs that make AFOLs green with envy. :) Keep Brickin'!

Impressive! The scale is daunting, and I really like how you included the dwarves! Also, the wall details and columns are excellent. I have no idea how you can build this well so fast!

This is really great Blake! You have absolutely amazed me for the duration of the CCC this year! The fact that you have so many great builds, plus the fact that they are all related through The Hobbit is just great.

Amazing work here! This is almost exactly how I imagined the scene in the book. Everything is great, and the fact that you added the rocks on the back makes this even better. Excellent job. :)

Holy Smokes Blake!!! This is incredible!!! The rock work on the back is superb and the inside is just amazing. The treasure and weapons are laid out perfectly. Smaug could be a little bigger and more reddish. But that's just me. All in all, great job and I'm looking' forward to more creations. Keep up the splendid work!!!

  December 22, 2011
Beautiful creation! Even though I like it, I like your future creations too, so I say this: the treasure seems rather scattered, Smaug doesn't seem too terrible of a build and the pillars (you probably couldn't tile them, but still) give an organic feel instead of architectural.

Thank you all for your tremendous support. This has done much better than I could've hoped or imagined for its first day. Thanks! So I am hearing a lot of stuff about the dragon. Hmm, in all honesty, I kinda agree :P He wasn' hastily built, I spent the majority of the creation on him alone, but this is my FIRST DRAGON I HAVE EVER MADE, so give me a break ;). Anyhow, thanks again. Any suggestions on how to improve the dragon?

There is no word that can describe how awesone this is. So, I will make one up: suprauberomegalphaawesometimeschucknorris. Of course, not even that fake word can describe how awesome this is. PEACE! ps, LOVE the Hobbit!

This is top notch, exterior and interior up to the doors and treasure. As most say, Smaug could have been more customized.

  December 22, 2011
I think the rock work on the other side is what makes this creaton so splendid. As with some of the other commenters you could've spent a bit more time on Smaug, but the rest is so awesome that I can't really pick on that too much. Great work, as always!

There's a lot of great stuff here. It's never easy to build a mountain/underground cutout, but you did so quite well.

  December 22, 2011
My God, Blake... I stared for a good 5 min at the rockwork in the back. Superb. The treasure room is filled with eye-candy and those SNOTted pillars really work well in the picture. The gate is also very real. Nice to see you keeping up with what you got us used to. Can't wait for the last entry! Don't ever stop building man
  December 22, 2011
Lots of great details. I'll just echo what Ian Spacek stated about Smaug. He needs to be "fleshed out" a bit more. Otherwise, excellent build overall.

All that rock work in the back is Great. And the pillars are good, but I wonder why you chose to make them studded. 5/5

Personally, I think you could have done a bit better on Smaug, seeing as you did such a good job with the warg, but the diorama itself is great!

  December 22, 2011
Magnificint work here Blake! I absoltely love all the details you've captured throughout. The only thing I really don't like is Smaug, I think it may have been better if you had just built his head, at a much larger scale, and just not shown the rest of his body. But I know you were speed building this, and speaking of, how on earth can you build so fast?!

Masterfully done! I think Smaug could be a little bit more pronounced (is that the right word?). He's kind of small and blends in with the treasure. Other than that though--which is just my opinion--the build is superb. Does the tunnel go through to the other side?

Very well done Blake, I love the detail and vast treasure pile!!

:O Nice work! I love the dwarves on the outside, and the columns are great. Smaug might be a little better, and I do imagine him bigger, but he serves his purpose in the MOC. As always, stellar job.
