This is my entry to the FBTB X-wing evo competition. It does look dangerously close to the original x-wing, but i don’t mind, i really like the style. And may do others in this “chibi” style.
The Incom T-65S ‘Hero’ was put into development by Incom’s engineers as soon as the word of lukes defeat of the death-star came to the company. The X-wing had become a household name, and Incom hoped to cash in on to this. The pilots nick-named the craft the “stubby”, although it share many similarities to the original T-65’s it appeared to be much fatter and a lot more chunky. Any pilots to use this as their primary craft would gain the nickname ‘porkins’ deriving from the ships nickname, stubby hero,
As this was designed to cash in on the T-65’s new found popularity it shares many characteristics with lukes x-wing. The ad campaign even had red marking, used a blue R2 unit and a rebel pilot and insignia, it was more than obvious what Incom were doing, the same as Cybot Galactia released there C series 3PO droid. But as it acted as an ad campaign for the rebellion, they didn’t mind.
Like the T-65’s it has the signature X shaped wing foils that the X-wing series are famous for. But the four engines have been merged into two much larger intakes that are right up against the hull, with four smaller ones slightly further down the wings. The nose has been enlarged to fit all kinds of flight sensors. It had four large Taim & Bak lazer cannons, on the end of each wing, with cooling fins to allow for more continuous shot with a shorter cooling time, the bulky look comes mainly from the masses of armor plating around the front , but with the back of the ship quite exposed, because it is designed for full frontal attack. The speed has been improved slightly with the addition of the large engines, but the agility and maneuverability have suffered. But the ship is stable and fast I’m flight, but slightly sluggish turning. Like the T-65, an astromech socket is located behind the pilot. The astromech droid provides astrogation data for the fighter's hyperdrive, and serves as a co-pilot and technician during flight. Three landing gears extend when the fighter is docked.
