USS Detriot LPD
This is my first ship creation. It is a model of a possible future LPD design. I call it the Detriot class.
About this creation

The pic above and below are pictures of the ship under construction. This was being built in the same location where my tank is being built, which explains the technic parts.

Here, the main deck gun is shown.

And a back view with the other gun and the helicopter pad.

The "H" without the Heli.

The "H" with the Heli.

A side view of the parked heli.

Alright, so you may have spotted the Hovercraft in the main pic. And you probably thought it was for show. You would be wrong. In fact, the reason there is a hovercraft is because those black doors are the doors for the hovercraft bay.

So while the Hovercraft is behind the ship, the doors open.

The hovercraft has to spin 180 degrees to fit and lock inside the docking bay.

It is still spinning...

Now is the hard part, The hovercraft pilot has to back the hovercraft into the bay, with little tolerance on either side. And, I should say, the ship is traveling at about 29 knots.

Now, the hovercraft is half on the door, half in the water. If the ship is forced to speed up or slow down, the hovercraft would tip into the water and sink. And the bay doors would fall off.

Reversing inside.

And the hovercaft is in!

Proof that the hovercraft is inside the ship. It is hard to see, but it you can just make it out in the dock.

The doors are shutting..

And the last step, the doors shut, and the ship can resume its original course at maximum speed.

I took off the side panels on the ship so that you could look at how the inside is. So, there.

Some sort of a side/action shot of the ship.

And finally, a pic from the top of the ship.

I like the SNOT (studs not on top) technic of this small and very nice deatiled ship.

Excellent! You don't find many LPD's here, yet I'm partial to them as my dad served on the USS Nashville (LPD-13)

Great SNOT design for the sides! I like how the ship can deploy the hovercraft. Nice job!
