A faithful reproduction of Kalamazoo's historic leading hotel, completed on the 100-year anniversary of the real hotel's opening.
About this creation
The Burdick Hotel was the leading hotel in Kalamazoo, Mi for over a century. After the original building burned in a massive fire in 1909, this seven-story structure was built as a replacement. It opened in 1911 with President Taft as the first registered guest. The hotel closed in 1971 and was demolished shortly afterward to make way for the Kalamazoo Center, the present Radisson Hotel. A bar and restaurant named Old Burdick's operates on the site today.
This is my second attempt at modeling the Burdick. The first was 17 years ago. The 2011 version uses over 4000 parts. Each window consist of 7 elements.
