Micro Le Mans
About this creation
After seeing Mortalswordsman's Marvelous Micro Race Team, i had to make my own Micro Porsche "Salzburg" Team. But i had to go one step further and include the LeMans pit straight. This is built for Ape Fights Classic Race Teams Group

Why not take a look at the group and have a go yourself.

This was made about a month ago but i have no computer at the moment so Joe has kindly let me use his to post this.

Hope you like it! I hope to make a whole track one day, Joe has said he'd help, maybe Ape and Nick might be interested to pitch in for the show?

Quoting Nick Barrett @Senator Chinchilla - yay! Now then, what I really like about this is the way you've represented the lettering on the side. I might pinch that when it comes to doing mine... Happy New Year Tom!
Happy New Year to you too Nick! Feel free :-) I cheated a bit...it's plain on the other side, ran out of red 1x plates and white 1x1 rounds my big Maxi transporter is hogging them all :-( Time to build something in black :-)

Quoting Senator. Chincilla . Tom, I think it's very clear: you must build a 1/16th scale Nurburgring! =P Spiffy micro cars BTW.
I wish I had enough pieces lol

Quoting Nils O. By the way: I don't think that Shell V-Power existed in the 70's ;-))
Haha no it definitely didn't lol it was the only thing I could find that fitted the bill(board).

Quoting Nils O. Wow, that's cool! A great little scene! The transporter is awesome, too. I seems that the rear doors can be opened. Do the cars go in there, too? That would be the extra candy for that model! Great (small scale) job! :-))
Oh yeah I forgot to take pictures of that and yes three cars fit in the back :-)

Reply: Yeah, I was wondering that. I think they stopped the 'Le Mans' start (i.e running across the track to the parked cars) in 1970 after John Wolfe died (thru not being strapped in properly) so I assumed they must've had lights after that? In fact, in '69 Jacky Ickx *walked* to his car in protest at the madness of starting that way, and so started last, but won anyway! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9jhs8AHT5U

Thanks guys but I don't think Audi raced in this era 1971 (correct me if I'm wrong). I'm not a big fan of the modern prototype cars, there aren't enough curves and they all look a bit samey.

Quoting Ape Fight
Thanks Ape, glad you like! I don't think there was a gantry at Le Mans in those days? Well I couldn't see one in any pictures anyway. But it would have been a good idea. I'll add one for the show :-)

Lovely! The mechanics around the pitted Porsche are my favourite! I think you could add a starting gantry / lights to give it some height, but nevertheless a great MOC. I'll have to post my mini Scuderia Ferrari team! I'm still wondering if we could pull off a lrge scale classic pit scene with all the full size teams. We'd only need the building 'frontage', like 4 studs thick...
