Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage
Here's my latest creation - a Maserati from the 60s.
About this creation
First of all, I would like to thank Ape Fight because he came up with the wonderful idea of making a group for classic race teams. So that's why I made this classic race car for his Classic Race Teams group on MOCpages.

An excellent addition to the Classic Race Teams group! I love the front air intake and shaping of the bonnet. Possibly the interior could be improved slightly, but other than that it's fantastic :) Thankyou for your tips for my Concept II, I've made proper headlights for it now and I've updated the page if you wanted to have a look.

Thanks LBJ (and a subtle name change I see!). I've now switched my Fiat's pics to Flickr ones and it looks so much nicer! Can't figure out how to change the main picture though as the html for it isn't accessible.

A cool model. Great shaping + cool techniques + nice details = Well done! :-)) This could be a base for a really cool Cobra in this scale!

Quoting Thomas Graafland Awesome!!! I love the front air intake!!! I like how you made the rounded shape!!! The interior and windshield look very good!! The driver is fantastic!! Marvelous car!! 5/5 :-D
Thanks! The windshield is an "upgraded version" of a technique that I first used on my Bugatti Veryon Super Sport.
Quoting Ape Fight Excellent work on a very tricky car - the curves looks wonderful. I like the guy driving it too - that's a nice touch! One of your best creations. 4.5/5 P.S Clever using Flickr to upload your photos to keep them high quality - how do you then import them here? P.P.S Can't wait to see this on the back of the Fiat truck!!
Click "Share," select HTML, and then copy and paste to an MOC. I've also replied to you on Flickr. :)
Quoting DeTomaso Pantera Had to comment again as i think this car is so cute! It would've looked better if you had used Model team tyres for this or the tyres that come with the Camper Van, The wheels are just too small i'm affraid, a similar technique to Jens M's 250 that's been talked about recently would have been perfect. But with that said I do actually like the chunky tyres here, they add a certain charm to a charming car. The driver is also very cool, his cap is splendid. Definately my favourite build of yours. Re; your photos, I think you've cropped them just that little bit too much, especially the main picture. Joe and I make sure you can see the whole car when it's on the homepage "square" as it will attract more interest if you can see the whole subject. Hope this helps. Your skills are improving so quickly, keep it up :-) And btw i think 3/5 is very harsh, he probably doesn't know what the real thing looks like and how hard it is to recreate ;-)
I'm glad you like it! I was actually quite suprised that there were so many people interested. :) Thanks you for advice on photo editing! Hahaha, it's actually a much harder car to build than it looks partly due to it curvyness.
Quoting MortalSwordsman . Beautiful. This is an easy 9/10. I love the wheels and how you did the curves. This technique usually suits studded (layered) mocs more but this looks fantastic. I also really like the windscreen. It is reminiscent of your earlier mocs which I love. Keep it up LBj. The driver is superb.
Thank you! Glad you like my windshield. :)

A beautiful model... just as I was mulling over the best way to do the 'screen on my D Type I see this - thanks :-). Only thing is, it might be a little small for the transporters.

Beautiful car! I especially like the old style wheels, and the figure you put in it. Also, it is very nice that you showed us the techniques you used for the rear and the front, I have certainly learned from it, and want you to thank for it !!

Quoting Larry Pan This is great! Love the front grill, some very creative techniques in this car. Also, did you get a new camera? These photos are so good!
No, I'm experimenting on editing, but I think the reason why it looks better is because I used Flickr to upload them. :) ~LB Jr

Quoting Allan Tarkovsky Very nice! I don't like the chunky tires, or the windshield, but the rest is great!
Thanks! Yes, I agree that the wheels are a bit chunky (they're really old - my dad played with them as a kid), but it's really hard not to make them not look chunky for this car because the wheels on the real car were really skinny, and LEGO hasn't made many skinny tires that would fit perfectly. :) They do have some that would fit better than the ones I used, but I'm really not willing to spend $15 for better wheels at this point. :)
Quoting DeTomaso Pantera Beautiful LB! I think this is my favourite of your creations so far. Very ingenuitive and beautifully sculpted. I am however not a fan of the border around your photos, it detracts from the gorgeous subject.
Thank you! I didn't realize until you pointed it out. And yes, I do see why they'd be a distraction. I guess you can say I'm experimenting background/editing (the background that I used for this MOC is actually slightly different from the ones I used on previous MOCs). I might re-upload the pictures that have that in the future since there's only 11 of them. :) ~LB Jr.

Nice job with the curves, especially looking straight at the front. It could have had different tires maybe, but still, very nicely built!
