Sorviodunum, an Avalonian outpost, deep in the Mystic Isles. The tower watches over the main route to Ynys Wydryn - the sacred realm.
Just a quick excuse to have a go at a round tower design which I will be using on my next moc. I wasn't planning on using a pointed roof on my upcoming build, so just added it for the sake of something different.
Only the few pics, as thats all I took, but theres not really much to take too many shots of anyway.

love how you have broken the structure with the plants up on the wall and the trees on the side. |

Beautiful work, as always! In particular, I think the look of the round tower is the finest I've ever seen. This not only brilliantly tackles the more detailed and convincing appearance of brick and mortar (with the 1 x 2 tiles), but provides a rounded wall area that has an identical look and feel to that of the straight walls - something we've been striving to acheive for a long time. Outstanding! |

Thank you for your comments!
In regards to the technique used, I scream Clone is right. It's a circle of hinge plates at the bottom, then alternating between 3 round plates and 1x1 brick with a stud on the side, then just build upwards. The diameter is exactly 12 studs, so you can use 2x12 plates to strengthen it every now and then and you get higher. |
