These are various Projects I have worked on in LDD that I would like to share. As you can see, I am very much into Hard Sci-Fi.
About this creation
This is my earlier model of a Bussard Ramjet. I was quite pleased with how the ramscoop and Bussard module turned out.
This is my rendition of the USS Discovery from 2001: A Space Odyssey. This was the version that was in Arthur C. Clarke's book and as you can see, most of the ship's features made it into the the movie save for the tanks and the large V-shaped radiators.
This was the first LDD Ship I created. It is a generic Nuclear Thermal Rocket with a rather elaborate gymbaled centrifuge. The large ring at the tail section was the radiators for the engine.
This is my rendition of the Project Orion Fusion Starship from Carl Sagan's Cosmos series. It was featured on the "Travels Through Space and Time" episode. The large plate at the back end is the pusher plate against which the plasma pulse from the nuclear propulsion bombs would impinge, propelling the ship up to a velocity of 10% of the speed of light.
In this image, I carefully positioned the camera so that the nucleus of the galaxy would look like one of the propulsion bombs detonating behind the pusher plate.
I don't know how this doesn't have any comments or ratings... excellent work! I do most of my work nowadays in LDD, so I can appreciate some of the work that went into this.
