About this creation

So here it is, my first real attempt at building a MECH; I call him Sawhand. This Mech features fully functioning joints, some of which even have shocks... you know, for a softer ride.

While I didn't originally intend for this mech to have a windshield of any kind, the alien face that came with the piece I ended up using for the cockpit did look pretty cool.

This is the gun mounted directly in the shoulder socket on the right side. I'll admit it only occurred to me after I had finished building Sawhand that he would be incapable of doing anything besides annihilating and butchering everything he came in contact with. That's just one of the downsides of having a massive gun and a set of three saws for hands.

The knees and joints from the side. If you look closely in the background you can see one of those springloaded shocks that make the ride so smooth I mentioned earlier; they're attached to both of his hips.

Finally, a view from the back. While it seems unlikely that these wings would actually be able to lift Sawhand off the ground, I think no real Mech can expect to live long without some kind of device that at least slows falling or enhances jumping. Thus, cute little wings!

I have to admit I really enjoyed this build, and had a lot of fun looking at all of the great Mechs here on MOCPages for inspiration. There is just something about using those little bricks to build machines that can dish out mass destruction. Also, it served as a great way to have fun while exploring several options for joints and "pose-ability." I have yet to buy some ball or socket type joints, but after building this guy, I donated some extra plasma to get money for Lex Luthor's Power Armor and I've already got some ideas for major improvements. That's coming soon.

Thank you all for the advice, it's always greatly appreciated. Although I will admit I don't do Mechs often, building this one and seeing the feedback that followed has inspired me to work on another. Stay Tuned.

Great build and I'm happy to see that you didn't leave many studs. Over all this is great just very the color selection a bit more by trying to use at least two or more colors and little grates and grebely parts help to make mechs look a bit more interesting. But over all this is great and I'll be happy to see the other mechs you might create!

Wow, that's really good. Glad you were able to find a use for that awkard cockpit piece. I've got one and I always get frustrated when I try to use it. Good form, and cohesive appearance. Once you beef up the legs a little at the joints, this will be one fine mech. Great work! ^Blub^

That is a beast of a mech. I have to say, though, I'd change the 'wing' pieces on the back to a different colour (if this were me who'd built it, there wouldn't be any wings...too anime mecha...). Either way, it is a very good model.
