6913 alternate cabrio
when I saw the first sneak peak pics of the 2012 creator line up I knew i was going to get this set. the 6913 is in a way what comes after the 6743; similar price category and almoust the same amount of pieces. and these small creator vehicle sets are the ones I m having most fun building the alternates. I recently bought 5893 with 1061 pieces but got nowhere with building alternates because it was just too big mess with too many pieces on my desk. these small sets are a different opera, it less pieces but more gaming with finding the connection solutions and that s where the creativity and innovation comes in. often to come up with a great alternate it means building in a way You could not imagine before. it s still a struggle through a lots of trial and error but once there is a good result it produces a well worth satisfaction and pays all the bills for efforts put in building with limited pieces.
About this creation
ok, lets move on to the car.
3/4 look. this is cabriolet the same as the original model but a bit different in looks and size. from 8 wide this drops into the size category of 6 wide and these narrow wheels are perfectly proportional for this size giving the car realistic looks. the overall color scheme is blue with integrated stripes of white the whole lenght of body.

the front, simple looks here, almost i could say cliche but this time nothing else worked and i stayed at the simple grill in the middle, round transparent tiles as lights and the white slopes as bumper.

rear. sort of boxy 80's type of styling.

side. the body consists of clear cabrio lines with appropriately integrated detail in it s right places: the tiled rear mirrors, the orange side lights, the grey door hangers.

top. the dark grey greatly separates the saloon from the body and the 2x2 tiles are a let in roof. inside is a simple light blue dashboard with comfy tan seats.

and few snaps on light background

the bottom. the model is sturdy. in the main body the build is mostly in a classic studs up technique, the snot is used only to for completing the front and rear and it s also sturdy snot attached to bracket part.

Quoting Nathanael Kuipers What a great come back with such a good looking alternate! The colour scheme is very nice and the pictures are excellent too! I also know what you're talking about regarding set 5893;I have that set too, but can't seem to come up with something satisfying.
Thank You! it s always pleasant to hear the model review and good words from the ultimate alternates builder like You :) and the group "Alternate designs of a Creator" is a great stimulator to build and share alternates. as well as it s a place where to get surprise of WOW, just look at what that builder has done, didn't know that's possible with that set :)

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Excellent. I have been eyeing up this set. This is an excellent alternate, I assume you are planning more? Hope so. The shape is very good and I love how you have 'coloured' it. As you know it is on of the big challenges getting the paint job right with limited colours and pieces.
thanks. yes, I m planning at least one more alternate from this set. but in comparison with 4939 this is loosing in versatility and even in comparison with 6743 it s harder to make alternates out of this set. the hard point is that it s having lots of plates like 2x12, 2x8, 2x6,1x6 in variable colors but relatively small amount of smaller pieces to fill up detail work. so it s very challenging to alternate with this. but still the set is worth the value as a parts stack for collection supply.

Quoting DeTomaso Pantera Nice one! I quite like the look of this set and I prefer your take on it :-)
agreed the looks of the factory roadster are appealing. I like their take on the headlights, gives so much edginess to the car.
