Space Defense Force
My inspiration for this was various super hero flying vehicles that split apart like the Fantastic Four's. I wanted fighters that docked to the mother ship, not in the mother ship.
About this creation

I think of this as a quick-deploy space defense force that can function as one powerfull ship or break apart and work as a team. It also has landing gear that extend and retract at the same time. It has a pretty slick looking profile that reminds me of an F-4 Phantom's. I also really like the dual canopy cockpit that provides an excellent view for the pilot and rear gunner. It's a fun ship to play with, err, I mean, my kids really like to play with it.

I like the overall arrow shape when the 3 fighters are docked.

Close up that shows one of the gun turrets and one of the landing struts.

I like the slopped wing look when the 2 side fighters are docked.

Obviously my bricks mostly come from Star Wars kits...

The fighters in formation.

The mother ship by itself. I like the sleek look, I just wish I had enough tiles to cover it completely.

Here's a few shots to show how the landing gear work. It's not as simple as these shots make it look. You only need to move one of them but you do have to re-position the feet so they retract properly, but hey, still cool and simple enough for a 4 year to use and not break.

Quoting Michael Rutherford Nice. You are right. It looks especially slick form the side. Such a platform would have the advantage of extending the range of a normal fighter patrol by affording each craft at least on full refueling and one full rearming between sorties. I suppose, if the main platform were to take a hit to the pilots station, any of the fighters could assume control of the overall platform (you have to hit and destroy all four pilot stations before she is finally out of action). This redundancy could increase the survivability of the whole ship. Attack!
Thanks, Michael! I imagine it could be the flying fortress of space defense. It could limp home after incurring massive damage.

Quoting Nils O. That's a really cool concept for a little spacecraft carrier. It looks great with and without the fighters. It looks like a lot of fun to play with and the landing gear is a cool function for that. Great job! :-))
Thanks Nils! I'm amazed at the amount of detail you can fit in your 4 wide cars. Really stellar designs.

Quoting Tim C I love this. Great original design. I especially like the rear thrusters of the ship. It looks like the kind of thing that...uh...kids would really enjoy playing with.
Thanks Tim, that means a lot coming from you. I hope I can make something as cool as your X-1 (experimental). I wish I could download it and play with it!
