This is an art deco style cinema (movie theatre) that I made for display at the Amherst Train Show in MA on Jan 28/29 2012.
The 1st storey was modified greatly from the original Town Plan cinema (#10184) by moving the entrance to the left, expanding the width from 30 to the full 32 studs, re-arranging the posters, expanding backwards and putting a back on.
The completely new 2nd storey uses castle battlement pieces and elongated windows to give a kind of simplified 'art deco' look.
I modified it slightly for the Westside show on Feb 25, 2012.
Sits very nicely alongside the Classical-style library.
About this creation
A view of the cinema from the left; happy patrons can be seen exiting on the left, just in time to catch the next bus (the #244) home, while a queue forms on the other side for the very much anticipated next showing ...
A view of the cinema from the right - shows the orderly queue forming to view this stupendous blockbuster! A film to see, for sure.
A back view of the cinema. A 'view from a bridge' this is not, but still quite pleasant. Actually, the view from this arch is green fields, which is very nice.
This is how the cinema now looks, as displayed at the Westside show on Feb 25, 2012. I alternated red & yellow lights, replaced the elongated windows with 2x2 panels and did minor tweaks! Sits very nicely alongside the Classical-style Library.
Simply gorgeous. You definitely have a knack for these city builds. I love the overall layout of this scene. Some of the features that stand out are the movie posters, the figs lined up for the movie, and the ticket booth, but the part that I like the best are the signs that you made. You nailed the art deco style perfectly. Excellent work.

Liking the queue. Should be good when the interior is done aswell.
Stevie! It was (and still is) a very popular film! Will take a look at the interior (which will also entail expanding backwards more to create more room for the actual cinema room) after the other MOC I'm developing is complete.

Lovely! Great signage, looking forward to seeing it furnished :)
Why, thank you! The signage was original to the Town Plan's cinema (10184), but I expanded the basic backless cinema to what you see before you. Taking it to another show Feb 25 ... with a new MOC I'm developing.
