Experimental Eva Unit Part 3
We spend our lives believing we understand the way the world works. But do we really know anything at all?
About this creation
INTRODUCTION:

On we continue. For this round of experiments, I have choosen to take some advice that was given me.

You will see some newly designed weapons, and a few new faces to my growing collection of experimental models.

In this round, I've done practical posing experiments, the Evas are holding objests and posed as if to use them. And one seriously crazy flexibility test, as you'll soon see.

EVA UNIT 00

So as you can see, I corrected the color. The initial version, I found, was too dark. In addition, I have upgraded the chest and redesigned the head for a more accurate appearance. Simple kneeling and wielding the simple rifle I made.

Unit 00 wielding my first concept of the Lance of Longinus. Not bad for a first version, it looks rather accurate in terms of size and proportions.

EVA UNIT 02

Here we see Unit 02 holding my brand new combat rifle, based heavily on the rifle used in the original Series. It's a bullpup, meaning that the magizine is integrated into the stock behind the trigger.

Next we have Unit 02, midstride at a run, carrying the rifle with two hands. Again, I'm rather pleased with the degree of motion I can get with the arms and spine. Those of you who wanted more weapons, I hope you like it.

This is taken from the movie "End of Evangelion". Asuka has taken a Lance of Longinus to the face from one of the Mass Production Eva Units, and is then subsequently torn apart and devoured. A little awkard, but it worked alright. I'll be doing this one again, though, to make it look better.

EVA UNIT 03

The Eva unit that becomes an Angel. In the original series, this unit is piloted by Shinji's friend, Toji. This unit is destroyed by Unit 01.

This one was interesting. Since Unit 03 became an Angel, it had adopted a more feral stance, and was seen crouched and moving on all fours during the fight between it and 01. This shows, I think, some of the serious flexibility that the unit can, and can not achieve. I'll be working on this.

EVA UNIT 01

Yes, you saw right. That was Unit 01 peeking from behind the wall.

Here is the star of the show, Unit 01. I'm decently pleased with this one, but it needs a lot of improvement. As with the other Eva Units I've designed, the head does not open it's mouth. I don't think I would even be able to fit it in at this scale.

Here's the close ups of the head. I'm only moderately happy with it, if anyone has any ideas, I'd be happy to hear them.

Seen here, Unit 01 with a pistol, peeking around the corner of the wall. I was surprised, but I actually got the left hand to 'hold' the right one, in order to two hand hold the pistol. This one is when they fight the Angel that is a shadow, and it swallows 01.

CREATOR'S NOTES:

Okay, so no GIFs this round. Instead I tackled a harder problem first. Did you know I had to redesign the head over a dozen times from scratch? Doesn't sound like a lot, but trust me, it took me hours to get the head to look halfway decent.

I am wondering if I should focus more on poses now, and adding more weapons too, or if I should try my hand at an Angel. We'll see, ey?

Quoting Rasmus Olsen they are very good, but the shoulder panels could be thinner.
I've toyed with it, but it's far more difficult to put into practice. I'll have to wait until my computer is back up and running.

Quoting CEO Luiz Camargo Man, you never get tired of pwning us? Great job my friend, the improvements in the head and color scheme in EVA 00 and the entire EVA 01 are great. Poor 02... well, at least it's a well worth photo of it =)
Sorry, but there's no pwnage here. I still say that 01's head looks off. But I'll keep toying with the design.

Quoting CBMC Chunkblaster I must say rabbid, you've really progressed allot with this design! The new rifle is great, and theres just so much character in these guys. Its hard to replicate all the little details of the eva's at this scale, but I'd say you've nailed the look of all the main eva's in the series. For some constructive criticism, I do feal the shoulder "blades" area is a bit too thick, though I'm not sure if you could shrink it or not. The heads to me have also always been the big defining detail that makes the eva's stick out from eachother (aside from color) so if you could add in any more detail to the heads that would be cool. All in all a very impressive design my friend!
As you said, given the size, it's difficult to tease out functionality and detail at the same time. I'll continue working on these, and hopefully come up with some solutions.

Quoting Thomas Z. Pure awesome! the flexibility is very good. If it were a bigger scale build I'd try to improve that head but at this scale I think you've done an excellent job! And the scene with Unit 02 being ripped apart is just...scary(I hope they won't do the same thing again in the new movies...)
I don't know if this would have been as successful at a bigger scale. The scale kind of feels "Goldilocks" as it is. Oddly enough, I kind of felt that scene was perfect. It showed exactly how mortal the Evas truely were. I haven't seen the movies yet, but I really want to now.
