After mucking up my first lot of work I had to re-design the layout a bit, this is where it is currently back to.
About this creation
Thought I'd do an update on where this MOC has gotten to so far.
After I finished laying down the last two quarters worth of Trans Blue Tiles I started mapping out the fortress architecture - BIG MISTAKE! It learned me good, I now know to never build the MOC in this order EVER again. For the most part I don't often do large buildings on my MOCs - so I am still learning.
After learning that I needed to do my Architecture mapping BEFORE laying out my landscape I proceeded with ripping apart all my previous work - Ouch. I actually did get proper blisters form too (there is always a first).
I want my Fortress (its more like a fortified fantasy bridge) to be positioned with a 3,4,5 triangle, scaled up to match the size of the building - to help assist with my tower placement (bridges will link the towers to each other) I built a JIG, this is the name we use in Kiwiland for mock-up tools. This Jig is shown in the last two photos. The original mapping happened directly on top of the base-plates - then built up the ground for one of the towers and used it as a reference for the 4 other towers. About 10 hours later I had the MOC back to this stage. It will take approx 4 hours to replace all the Trans Blue Tiles... A great job for the weekend!
I read 10 times your comments to be sure everything was clear!! -Language gap- :) If YOU say you're still learning, that's refreshing!!... What about me, little builder?! I just used your water technics with trans dark blue for a 32x32 MOC I will add real soon. I will follow each one of the steps of this WIP like a padah-wan. Thanks for sharing!!
Looking good! As I (somehow) inspire you with my color scheme you heavely inspire me with your landscaping and architecture! Simply stunning. And so much planning! It looks like you did more planning with this single MOC than I do with áll my MOCs... Jeez, I can just imagine all the hurt your fingers must have felt after breaking it all up again... But I can't wait to see it finished! -greetings, Elderon
