Scarab fighter
My second completely-from-my-head MOC.
About this creation

This was my attempt at building a minifig-scale fighter in a lightweight fashion.

I call it the Scarab because from overhead, the fuselage resembles a beetle's head, thorax, and abdomen, and the wings of the ship form the legs.

I borrowed the SNOT wing style from my Cerulean Battleaxe…

…and the missiles come from the Cobra Starfighter by Affliction.

The drive engine section. I don't know why I love using the round 2x2 tile as a fusion plant access point, but by Jove it works for me.

LOVE IT, love everything about it. Great design, clean lines, minimal but effective details. Brilliant. Just one tiny teeny observation. If this is intended as a star wars universe snub fighter... would they have scarabs? Just a thought. From the silhouette I'd say this was a shoe in for a "U" wing. (Don't think we've had an official one of those). If it's got nothing to do with star wars and the x-wing pilot minifig is just a coincidence, ignore my last paragraph. Brilliant design.

I like the design. Nice use of the curved pieces to get those sleek effects throughout the body of your ship. I also like how the yellow stands out against the gray.

Quoting John Stahlman Wow! This fighter has a great shape! Nice execution!
Thanks :) I actually updated the LXF after I took these photos -- originally, the wings attached to the fuse with Technic bricks that had 1/2 friction pins inserted. This allowed for far too much "wobble" in the wings, so I replaced them with 1x1 bricks with 1 stud on the side. That seems to provide a much more solid hold.
