American style Ambulance in MedLink colour scheme
7/8 wide American style ambulance for minifigs.
About this creation
I've built 2 ambulances so far and been really pleased with the end results. The builds itself were very enjoyable and fun to do.
I've been wanting to have a go at building an American style one for some time and thought I'd build one in the MedLink group colour scheme. I found some pictures of a NYFD ambulance online and took my main inspiration from that.
The cab is 7 wide and the main body is 8 wide. The cab seats 2 minifigs comfortably and the back accommodates one patient and one paramedic.

The view through the side door shows from left to right a computer terminal and a heart rate monitor.

This top view of the rear interior shows from left to right a sink area, medical kit and computer terminal.

This top view of the rear interior shows from left to right worklights, a digital clock and a saline drip.

This shows how my new ambulance measures up to my Mercedes Sprinter ambulances. I did think at first that the 7/8 wide scale would be too big but here it shows that there really isn't too much difference in size. I found it quite amazing that having just one more stud in width meant being able to fit a whole lot more into the model.

My American Emergency services vehicle collection so far.

7/8 wide?!?!?! You are setting standards here man; this really is remarkable how you jumped half a stud between the front and the back of the ambulance. Wow. I am afraid to look at more of your vehicles, each one is more amazing than the previous!

Quoting Melissa V.
Hi Melissa, Thank you for the compliment. It is good to read that your 10 year old is doing so well with lego but I really don't know how to help your predicament. At 10 years old I was no way capable of building something like this without instructions, it just takes a lot of time and a lot of experimenting. I can give you instructions for my London Ambulance or Singapore Ambulance and from that he may be able to get ideas to make his own ambulance with doors similar to this one. I have a 7 year old who is wanting to build bigger and better things but gets easily frustrated too. I just have to be enthusiatic and encouraging to enable him to do it for himself because it is all too easy for me to take over and correct it for him but then he would never progress. If you want to email me my address is andy@ugthepug.co.uk Kindest Regards Andy

Hi! This is really fabulous. We have a 10 year old enthusiast who is making the leap from instruction led building to free building. I can be awfully frustrating sometimes when he cannot make something work. I wish we had a tutor!! Any advise? How long did this take? How many tries? He cannot get the side door to look/work like this. Could you advice, or give him details? Love to get a direct email as he's really good, but sometimes gets horribly discouraged when he cannot make it work.

Quoting Gabor Horvath Hi Andy! You didn't post any new creation for a long time! Hope you are well! :)
Hi Gabor, it has indeed been a while. Unfortunately I have had loads going on this year so Lego has had to take a bit of a back seat. Kids and work mainly. Hopefully start building again soon and return to the fold. Thanks for the concern Mate.

This is a stunning Ambulance! The detail is amazing, by far the best I've seen. The only problem is the blue stripe isn't high enough, but other than that it's amazing! -Justin Fisk MedLink supervisor 3.

Quoting Christian Collins Andy this is an awesome creation, but I can see some of the officials in the MedLink group getting a little upset that you did not ask for permission. I am a MedLink admin myself, but like I said this is great. However you didnt quite get the color scheme right, the blue stripe should start right above the cab door and continue at the same level all the way down the vehicle. And to further the vehcile's legitimacy, why not join the group and make this an official MedLink unit? **EDIT** Did not realize this was already in the group.
I apologise Christian as I did not realise I needed permission to make an ambulance in MedLink colours, as I did check the group rules. I just thought it might be a fun addition to the group. I wasn't aware of the placing of the blue stripe as i thought it could be put anywhere as I've seen on other vehicles in this group, whoops! I can always remove this and rebuild it in NYFD colours instead, it's a shame but oh well.

I like it, but I am on board with Christian. Don't destroy it, build it to regulation and put it in the group, I would love to see some of your stuff in MedLink colors! Nice work! 5+
