Stone Golem MBS Mk.I
One hundred forty-five tons of solid durasteel, armed with the biggest weapons ever mounted on Mechs.
About this creation
The first and biggest Mech to appear as part of IWE's Project: Prometheus, the Stone Golem goes all-out to become the toughest, most beastly MBS ever created. based off the smaller Grenadier Mk.II Support Mech, the Stone Golem packs an abundance of firepower and armor, with enough of the other necessities added in to keep it fairly well-rounded.

--Specifications--
-Model: Stone Golem Prototype MBS Mk.I
-Class: Mechanized Battle Suits (MBS)
-Role(s): Baseline fire support, Heavy weapons, All-purpose demolitions, Stealth ops (just kidding)
-Tonnage: 145
-Height: 14.7 (excluding missile pods)
-Power Source: MN-5260 heavy-duty EM Power Core Mark.16
-Max Speed: 32 MPH(without thrusters), 55 MPH (with thrusters)
-Armament: HV-79 Vanguard Assault Rifle, GC-520 Mjolnir Rotary Cannon, SRHM-22 Short-Range Heavy Missile Pods (4 missiles each). also has weapon hardmounts on lower arm and tops/sides of shoulders.

All specifications based on design prototype. stats may be subject to change.

Shown here is the HV-79 Vanguard Assault Rifle. while the Stone Golem's Mjolnir rotary cannon packs quite a punch with speed to match, we wanted something else to serve as a secondary weapon, something with more distance and better suited for taking out targets the Mjolnir might be unable to handle. so we can up with the Vanguard. a semi-automatic weapon, it has a relatively low rate of fire. it also only has six rounds per clip, which has proven to be a bit of a pain. however, it makes up for it with grim accuracy and enough stopping power to punch through the average medium Mech's armor in a single shot.

This monster of a gun is the GC-520 Mjolnir Rotary Cannon, the pride and glory of the Stone Golem. capable of pumping out 98mm explosive rounds at a rate of 210 rounds per minute, this spinning wheel of death is sure to mow down anything the Stone Golem might run in to. the Mjolnir holds a record as the fourth-biggest Mech cannon (excluding quadrupedal/hexapedal walkers) ever created, after the Thor Superheavy Mech's artillery, the Grendel Heavy Mech's machine guns, and the Titan II's pulsed beam lances.

The Stone Golem also carries a pair of short-range heavy missile pods for the bigger enemies. unfortunately, very little of each missile was used for propulsion which gives them very little range, and are fired "dead", or without any kind of guiding system. however, that extra space was then stuffed chock-full of explosives. two or three well-aimed missiles are sure to take down even the largest of enemy Mechs, and are also useful for clearing away small buildings and other structures.

this is the Stone Golem's heavy-duty propulsion system. sadly, despite the fact that it's an absolute breakthrough in MBS flight systems compared to previous designs, it still can only fly about as well as the average penguin. instead, the Stone Golem's thrusters are used mainly only for giving a major bit of extra speed when crossing the battlefield, giving this lumbering hunk of steel a max speed nearly comparable to that of the average MBS. what's more, being unable to fly doesn't necessarily mean it can't get off the ground. IWE's creative test pilots proved how effective being able to launch off the ground at high speeds for a few seconds really could be, by using that and the Stone Golem's 145 tons of crushing weight to convert small Mechs into finely ground durasteel powder.

Creators Notes: I'm pretty happy with this design. not only did I finally manage to break away from my bad habit of using Chunk's Grey Wolf as a reference (thus managing to create an entirely new frame), but I'd say it turned out really nicely.
there are a few things I need to work on still, though. the head design is in need of redoing. I originally intended for the Mech to be "hunchbacked", so to speak, with the head mounted far to the front. because of this, I placed the cockpit hatch on the back. but after I had done this, the head just... didn't look right. unfortunately, I ended up having to place the head on top of the hatch. the head is also kinda small compared to the average MBS head.
another is the joints connecting the legs to the body. I designed them the same way as the Grenadier's. the issue is that this particular style of joint doesn't work quite as well on an MBS, and its maneuverability is a tad bit limited.
hopefully I can get these issues worked out at a later date.

just a little fun fact, I got the name from LEGO's old Spybotics: The Nightfall Incident game (definitely one of LEGO's best games. a shame they got rid of it). the Stone Golem unit was, from what I remember, the toughest unit in the game.

I feel I should give credit to Chunkblaster. even if this is essentially my first MBS design NOT based off the Grey Wolf, I still used a lot of design elements that I learned from him and his MBS's. also, the rotary cannon design is a larger variant of the GC-490 gatling cannon seen on his ancient Pterosaur Heavy Mech.

enjoy, and Play Well!

Quoting LTE the Mechanier Arik, you use GIMP right? How do you make your lasers and thruster-fire?
I use Photoshop Elements, but you can do about all of it on GIMP. I use gradients (the Blend tool on GIMP) for both. to make a laser, put white in the middle, with the color of the laser (red, blue, green, etc.) on each side, then make the edges transparent. for the thruster-fire, it's pretty much the same thing, but with yellow (usually a lighter shade of it) on each side of the white. then I set the shape to radial (make it in a circle shape), and use the Smudge tool to sort of make it longer. you might have to experiment a bit, as I've never tried this in GIMP before.

Quoting Rich Collins... 257th Wolf Uh, Where's the Hatch? EDIT: Wait, ifound it! Very clever!
*hands you keys to a large drilling vehicle, with the words "Acme Hatch Opener, Deluxe Model" labeled on the side* just kidding. :P for those that haven't found it, it's on the back.

Quoting ED Eroomdivad Woah... Not only is it awesome in alomost every design aspect I've looked at, it's got epic names to boot. A gattling gun named after Thor's hammer and the whole thing named after Golem Stone from Nightfall. Unbelievable.
Merry (late) Christmas. :)

I like it. It's a very balanced composition. All the proportions are complimentary, and I like how the gatling cannon is integrated into the left forearm.

Quoting LTE CEO of MMWI FRIKKIN AWESOME O_O and by height, do you mean 14.7 meters or 14.7 feet? cause feet makes no sense
14.7 feet? ugh, I've been REALLY goofing up on my measurements. XD first I say pounds instead of tons, now I say feet instead of meters...

Quoting BiO.Andrew (APMS-1 Series in progress!) Now THAT'S an MBS! :D Excellent work, I really like how you've repurposed Chunk's gattling gun design from the Pterosaur Heavy Mech (the square snap-ons). You've definitely outdone yourself this time. Great job, 5/5!
thanks, Bio! :D by the way, though I'm not sure you have the time, I have a little project that I could use some help with, one you may be pretty good at.

Quoting Me23456789 ("Me2" or "Me") Excellent! I really love the look of the plating on either side of the gatling cannon. Just a note, though, you may want to change "pounds" in the intro to "tons." I'm pretty sure that this beast weighs MUCH more than just a few pounds more than me! =P
I got the basic design of the gatling gun, including the side plating, from a Mech Chunkblaster made a long time ago. and thanks for pointing out that mistake. :P
