Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows Balcony Scene
A detailed scene from the end of the latest Sherlock Holmes film. Please comment, rate and enjoy!
About this creation

I made this after watching the latest Sherlock Holmes film (A Game Of Shadows), starring Robert Downy Jr. and Jude Law as Sherlock and Watson respectively.

This is the climax of the film in which Sherlock faces his arch nemesis Moriarty in a literal game of chess, on a balcony above the famous Reinbach falls in Switzerland, that ends (In Moriarty's mind) with what is depicted in this photo.

A closer look at Sherlock tumbling from the ledge, pushed by Moriarty.

A better look at inside the balcony. This moc probably took the longest of any of my mocs, see if you can spot why.

The table on which sits their chess board and the timer.

One end of the covered balcony.

The main entrance doors.

The other end of the room.

The whole moc including the base.

One of the windows.

The snow-covered roof. I put a lot of effort into this whole moc, trying to get everything perfectly matching the film. I even went to the cinema a second time just to make notes on the look of the balcony and memorize it better!

Not much to see at the back.

You might not be able to see them in the earlier pictures but there are actually three chandeliers hanging under the roof.

Some of the details.

The details at the opposite end.

A closer look at Moriarty (Played very well by Jarred Harris.)

A better look at the doors.

A candle-light effect.

And again.

A shot through the pillars so you can just about see one of the chandeliers.

A look at one of the corners of the base.

Now a look at the arch enemies just before they get up and fight, playing their game of chess.

And again.

A view from above. The only custom piece in the moc is the chess board, everything else is Lego. And if you haven't spotted it yet, the reason this took me so long is the floor. The diagonally tiled floor! It would have been a lot simpler if I'd copped out and put them straight. But I wanted it as accurate as possible and they're diagonal in the film so their diagonal here!

Very well done! The diagonal tiles I think could be left out (mainly because of the sides of the floor) but generally quite impressive!

Quoting Paul Vermeesch This is really quite lovely! I love the angular floor pattern. It's that little bit of extra effort that really pays off!
