Heavy Battle Tank Remake
About this creation
A while ago i obtained some more dark green bricks to make this re-do of my heavy battle tank. I was still aiming for the T-90 but personally i think i am further away from that goal now. No matter, i am still very pleased with how it turned out.

This time around there is an interior in the base of the tank (not easily accessible and thus not photographed) and in my opinion it has a much more finished look to it now. I still need to make a top access hatch though. I couldn't find a solution i liked when i was building it and somebody has to fire that .50 Cal when needed. I wonder if it fires plastic bullets by the way? Haha..

seven axles. The T-90 has six but that didn't look right on this build.

Below, a couple of rear shots.

I know those fuel pods look huge but when there's a long way to the nearest gas station it is not a bad thing to have 'a couple' thousand litres of diesel fuel with you when it's all on the outside anyway.

And finally a photo to show the turret can make a full 360 degree turn. The T-90 has that capabillity too.

The SHTORA infrared missile countermeasures are also fully visible here.

Quoting claw paradox that .50 cal looks about the same size as an 30mm autocannon!
Hehe i know :-) I adjusted the caliber to 20mm for that model a while ago to compensate for the size. I like the way they're built, quite detailed in my own opinion.

Quoting Tanks & Tanks Again My god this is huge...
Yep, it's quite large. I wanted it to be a heavy battle tank in minifig-scale but it became a bit over-scaled :-D

Quoting Michael Rutherford Mounting the fuel pods on the outside of the vehicle offers a number of advantages. First and foremost, the additional fuel allows for longer intervals between re-fueling. This not only longer range, but it saves huge amounts of time by cutting down on fueling stops. At the operational level, this is a huge advantage. Second, external cells are normally "Extra" fuel. There is a normal fuel cell within the armored body of the tank. They are usually used to facilitate long road movements without the benefit of heavy equipment transports #Big tank hauling trucks with flat bed trailers#. Third, by placing the fuel out beyond the armor, and generally to the rear of the vehicle, the cells tend to explode completely when hit, resulting in the fuel being broadcast over a large area, and burning off quickly, before it can "Cook" the tank. The cells are basically an expedient logistical adaptation, with some advantages and disadvantages, but a direct hit on the fuel cell does not rob the tank of its normal fuel source, and does not spell doom for the tank either. I love the look of them. It tells me that the force commander is prepared to take his forces DEEP into the enemy’s territory, and stay active once he gets there. Attack!
Exactly! I remember seeing a tank documentary where the whole idea with the external fuel pods were explained thoroughly and i thought that that was a really brilliant idea. Another good reason to have them i think is that if supply lines are cut it would probably be nice to have at least some armor that will run for extended amounts of time. They ARE very big on this build though, but the pieces that would look right are not available in dark green :-# And thanks for your comment and explanation! I didn't know the pods would explode in a direct hit. That actually seems like a better scenario than trying to dive away from the spilling fuel while it's on fire, as i thought would be the case. Oh, and i do plan to take advantage of the independence of supplies, sir! :-D

Quoting Lego 4 Life Hm...Maybe Vallkirimrl is right. I wonder what will happen if the external fuel pods explode :D
There'd be a huge fuel fire for sure ;-)

Quoting Charles Leahy I just have one thing to say. This tank, will beat you over the head with a stick made of pure awesomeness then make you breath fire and demonic babies... on second thought that was a little longer than one thing but it still fits the MOC. XD awesome job!
Heey thanks! That was a very.. Original and different comment :-) Sure made me laugh!

Quoting Vallkirimrl (preivously C. Boris) I like it a lot, but I would suggest A) making the barrel round all the way through B) scaling down the external fuel pods
Thanks :-) I recently re-did the pods and now there's only one of those barrels on the tank. I too would still like to see even that pod be smaller but there are no round dark green pieces in the right size available. About the barrel: Same problem really - if it were to be round all the way i would have to build it in brown or black pieces. I appreciate your thoughts though :-)

Quoting Scott Allen Awesome tank. Wanted to do a tank forever, don't have any of the tracks, have almost 20k pieces but only those little rubber treads. Love the dark green. The gas tanks are cool, other than they are a big target for the bad guys. One clean shot from sniper or even a ricochet could turn this beauty into a molten pile of metal, lol. But hey, that's if they escape that gun. Great job. ~cheers
If you dont mind spending a bit the currently cheapest way to get tracks in this build's size is to buy one or two LEGO 9391 sets :-) And you might be right about those external fuel pods when they're that big but unless the tank is otherwise hindered, you just drive out of the flames. There's always an internal fuel cell with this type of setup, though i don't know how much diesel is in that one on existing battle tanks with external pods :-)

Thanks :-) Uhmm i don't know, i actually haven't thought about that. But you might be right as i didn't look a lot at the barrel in the photo i built it from.

Thanks for all your comments, this has become my absolutely most popular build in no time! :-) I agree with all of you about the gas tanks and appreciate your thoughts but unfortunately i have yet to find round dark green pieces in the right size. But i am now considering if i should go with maybe just one of the tanks?

I can see where you were trying to go with a T-90 tank, it looks related to it. The fuel tanks are rather large, good if it needs to go along distance, but i think it could be smaller. The gun is nice and big, very feirce looking. It would be interesting if you could get interior Photos, but i know how that can be difficult. Overall a nice tank, good job!
