About this creation
A Heavy attack helicopter i built ages ago. I was never really pleased with this build, way too many greebles and not enough shape to the wings. No proper missiles, no greys to complete the tail section, etc., etc... There are some things on it that worked really well though, so now i'm finally posting it!
First, the front.

Right side. 4 AMRAAMs and the dual-barreled 20mm gatling. It takes some flying skill to use that!

Left Side. Another 4 AMRAAMs and a heavy rocket launcher. And a guided bomb placed underneath the belly.

Head on. Looks Viscious!

Top/front. The 30mm machine gun and it's movement is shown here. Also, a couple of small missiles, one on top of each wing can be seen.

A close-up of the cockpit.
And side views:

Right side.

Left side. That top radar dome has an unintended but interesting feature. When the propellers spin, the eye of he radar dome stays in place.

A blurry top shot.

And a rear shot. The missile countermeasures are synchronized to fire between the blades
I took inspiration from many different helicopters while building this, the most notable ones are shown below.

Top left is the Mi-28 Havoc, bottom left is the Cobra AH and to the right is the apache longbow.

Looks AMAZING...!!! :-) Especially The Twin Miniguns... If you make it both on each side, it will mow down infantries like a swiss cheese...
:-D
Or if you make the rocket launcher both, you could decimate all the enemy buildings and vehicles to smithereens... :-D
And finally you came up with your mind "why not both?" and so, The Beast Gunship is born.... :-D :-) I like it My Friend... :-) |

I have a bad habit of when something interests me a whole lot to go into the technical details about it. It is not meant to take away from the outstanding design or point out flaws, but rather it is a compliment because I like it and I must know more about it! When I am finished with my Mobile Suit universe, I will work on a five-bladed design. I had one a while back, but now I cannot remember it.
It's quite allright, i did read your comment as a compliment :-) If you do remember or come up with a 5-blade rotor, please let me know! |

I worked on Apaches for many years, so I instantly saw where lots of the inspiration came from. If the helo wants to be able to fly at a reasonable speed and at higher altitudes, I would suggest wider main rotor blades. Perhaps add a fifth one. And I hope that the engines put out enough necessary power, and that the gearboxes and transmission can handle it. Just some technical pointers. Overall, it is a very nice build. Bravo.
Thanks! And thanks for your detailed comment :-) You're right about the design, most is built over the apache design - with a few additions and changes taken from other designs. The end of the rotor blades are the cast rotor blades from LEGO, so unfortunately i can't widen them. Originally i wanted a 5-blade rotor, but i didn't have the patience to figure a solution. Maybe i should have though! I actually haven't been thinking about just how much engine power the helo would have, but i imagined there to be plenty :-D |

awsome and if you need any mini gun instructions just ask me cause i'v studied how to make a mini gun for a long time just so you know.
Thanks! I already have some other designs but i'll keep it in mind if i get stuck with a weapon some day :-) Here's a compact minigun design i modified from another one i saw on MOCpages:

True, Apache is a little bit too common. Maybe I´ll do something that will blast anything out of the skies instead, PF motorized ofc :) |

I must test my skills on this kind of creation soon :) I think the Havoc design shines through more than the others...but it´s pure excellens making a hybrid out of all three. Maybe I´ll try making the Apache!
Thanks :-) Yeah i know, i kinda liked the havocs 'raw' and to-the-point look. Well if you feel for it, you should definitely give building helicopters a try! There are a lot of apaches on MOCpages though, so perhaps a different one? |

This gunship has to be one of the best on mocpages. First off, the accuracy to the orignial is phenominal. Then the weapons are accurate, scaled perfectly and they are awesome looking and third and most important The SIZE. This thing has to be at least 3 feet long and a foot wide, Probably even larger. Trust me, ya can't get much better than this!
Thanks! Well actually it comes in at about 4 inches short of two feet in length including the rotor blades :-) Still a big bird though! |

Sorry, just realized my comment on this never showed up. :( Really great MOC, the name defiantly fits. Nice job an the guns and missiles, the body of the build isn't very sleek, nor should it be for a bristling with guns attack chopper. Epic job, this thing is beast! :P |

Sweet chopper! Somewhat exaggerated armament, but it looks cool!
Yep i think i went a bit overboard with the rule of model building that states you should exaggerate cetain details to increase recognition :-D And i originally wanted the gatling to be a dual-barreled GAU-8A but i dialed the caliber down a bit because the helo would have been (even more) uncontrollable with that kind of firepower. |

Sweet! Looks like a Beast! I don't think I could build something like this. One thing though, I think the front or nose part is a bit to narrow.
-LB Senior
Thanks man! Oh it wouldn't be too hard considering the skill you guys have :-) Yeah i don't know where my head was at when building that part but i was modelling the nose after another helo not shown above, the KA-52. It kinda fits the look of the build though i think. |

I think that one more helicopter that would help you on making an improved model of this particular aircraft would be the old Soviet Mi-25 Hind. As for a LEGO set that would help you out with parts, you would only need a LEGO part that had places to attach 5 LEGO elements in a star-like pattern and a LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship set.
Yep, i know the hind :-) I decided that even though the beast is bigger than both the cobra and the apache, it would be a dedicated but well-stocked attack helicopter. The hind (and the sea king for that matter) carry troops in the rear, adding needlessly to it's size. But thanks for the tip! I would like to find one of those five-ended parts though, i've seen several people on MOCpages use them with cool results. |

Beast is a good name for it--Wicked!
Thanks man :-) Personally i feel i have a good base plan for a helicopter here, it IS very mean looking. But i think it needs a remake some time - then maybe i'll use less greebles and find some proper looking parts for the other stuff on it i'm not pleased with. |
