About this creation
2012 MocAthalon

Team GAIA

Category 27: Forced Perspective

A group of soldiers are ambushed by barbarians using catapults from the mountain tops.

The army is quickly broken up, leaving the men scattered as they try to avoid the next wave.

It's sure strange to see someone's sword fly right at you, especially if the arm is still attached.

Poor Charlie..

Chaos ensues.

A micro look at the catapult.

Well that's about it for my first entry.

Just a small warm-up MOC, and very fun of course.

Thanks for viewing!

Great entry! Love the micro catapaults, i thought they made a very effective FP.

Quoting Master Shifu Leo J Hmmm ... I thought the first picture said it all (about the FP). It was clear to me. Anywho, an excellent build. Cool flying fireballs from afar!
Yeah, I just noticed the error in the FP.

Action packed! That's intense (and a little gory)! Nice job! The forced perspective with the catapults is very cleverly done.

Quoting Chris Phipson Oh bringer of storms, nice entry here! I too feel the FP was underplayed and despite how awesome the build was it's the FP that has to be the main focus of the entry. For that, you scored a CRAZY STRONG 3. Basing it solely on the FP, I just couldn't go with the four... as much as I wanted to. ~ Chris.
OK, I think I finally understand what you mean and why I was rated low. I spended more time on the center explosion then on the actual distance of the barrage. I guess I should've took more time on the build. Thanks for clearing that up!

Great build, but the FP is lacking. Your score = 3

Some very nice building techniques, and wonderful action in the scene. I think, perhaps the forced perspective might have been a bit more effective with an additional line of trees further in the distance (to provide a greater sense of the variation in scale), or something to that effect. As it stands the catapults are really the only thing indicating the distance. I think, however...between the build quality and the catapults functioning to some degree to capture the sense of depth...I'm ready to give this one a 4. Nice work!

Your building style has been a favorite of mine for some time now, and I always enjoy how you find new twists to pack in deep details. The scene alone is spectacular, with the explosion and advancing fireball taking center stage....but the forced perspective aspect isn't really there enough for what the category calls for. Score= 3.

Awesome! I love how you made micro catapults to make them look like their in the far away! great job!

Nice job! I thought that would score more, but oh well. It looks like the second fireball is going to hit where the first did, put those poor men out of their misery. >Eric

Perfect entry, I'd say! That's a really hot inferno you've set up for us. The tini catapults and the fireballs look great. There are so much more fine details to discover... GO GAIA, GO! ~Cheers

Wow a Stormbringer Moc without a dragon in it (no offense, I really love your dragons) - A very good build but regretably the FP hasn't the effect I would love to see on this Moc (maybe caused by the fact that the mountains with the catapult are on the same plate like the crowd) - Anyway a really really strong 3 from me - Score = 3

Mr. Stormbringer, I really love the explosion. Well done on the landscape as well. I thought the FP was slightly underplayed however. Your Score: 4

Et tu, unitronus? To use a picture taken with camera tilted to the side, try fiddling logically with HTML. It would be really funny to exchange the "height" and "width" values, you know.

At first look I misread the scene as a picnic - how wrong was I? This is great work. As others have noted the perspective on the catapults is cool.
