Team A Moctley Crew in Category 27: Forced Perspective
About this creation
2012 MocAthalon
Team A Moctley Crew
Final message received from Space Station Trinity before its annihilation by Combine Forces.
My fellow soldiers: it is with the greatest sorrow that I announce the destruction of Earth by the Alien Combine’s Darksaber Superweapon. We have fought valiantly against our merciless opponents, withstanding all assaults made upon our fortress. However, we are but flesh and bones, facing a terrifying machine of war constructed of alloy, weaponry, and above all, cruelty. But know this, my brothers and sisters: though our homeworld has been reduced to nothing, we will continue the fight until every last human is free from the tyranny of the Alien Combine. We will fight till our weapons fall silent, our hearts stop beating, and above all else, the universe is free from the threat of war. To any humans listening to what may very well be the last words that I shall ever say, I have this message:
Continue the fight…never lose hope…
ALL IS NOT LOST.
*Bzzzzzkk….ksshhhhh…skkkkkkkk*
End transmission.

Background info:
Forced-perspective is a realm of LEGO that I have always admired, and the MocAthalon finally gave me the push that I needed to try it out for myself. The entire idea for the scene originated from an image I had of two people holding hands staring out at a scene of pure horror; the battle-damaged space station scenario was a natural progression of the idea in my thought-process. Overall, I’m very pleased with this entry (my first!) and I hope you are too :)

Outstanding work Paul! This build--and the background story--has all the elements of futuristic heroism that defines great Sci-fi films! Wonderful job on the forced perspective as well! |

While this MOC isn't necessarily as complex as some others in which I've given an equivalent score, I feel this really has a lot of strengths. I love the lighting in that last shot, for starters. The holding of hands is a subtle, but wonderful touch. The detailing and strewn bodies is nicely handled (although detailing could still go further with something even larger in scale). And the perspective, while simple, works well. A solid 4 from this judge.
A completely accurate assesment of my creation; thanks for the score!

Great stuff, a really clever build and forced perspective effect. The alien who has lost his arm is very well done too! |

Looks like this build has the judges divided Paul. I think the details here are fabulous, and the exposed hoses behind the wall completely won me over, along with the emotion you portrayed with the minifigs holding hands. I didn't even read the backstory....there's no need....your build speaks for itself. Well done! Score= 5.
Thank you, good sir!

Usually I'm pretty close with Blake on scoring but I think he's smoking the funny stuff here. This one is all sorts of 5 points! ~ Chris.

Mr. Romano, I really liked the FP explosion. I thought the scene inside could've used some work though. Still, a solid score. Your Score: 3

Wow! Just wow... This is AWESOME Paul! It looks way better than I imagined. I really like the bullet holes and destruction. It really gives it the whole horrific mood, but ironically the people holding hands sets the opposite mood. So it is kind of like a paradox of emotions. Anyway, good luck with the judges! |
