Made in 1982, Blade Runner is one of my favorite films. I've been wanting to create this mosaic to hang on my wall for some time now, but this contest and category gave me an excuse to do so.
This is a mixed mosaic, making use of both vertical and horizontal construction to more accurately create the lines of the image. No program was used to create this. I printed out the black and white photo below, and used it as a template.

Amazing! I can't see how you can create it without the aid of a computerised generator. Therfore, I applaud you! I hope to see more from you. :) |

Well, Mark and Heath, about the only way that you're going to get this thing any more accurate would be to 1. use computer bitmapping and 2. to make it similar in format to my Super Mario Brothers Mushroom mosaics. However, due to the way that my mosaics are constructed, they probably wouldn't hang on a wall very well at all if they could even hang on there in the first place. Those are just probably my two bits, though. |

For the scale that you worked in, I think this is quite nice. I noticed Heath mentioned the facial form feeling a bit off, which I agree with, but in general, a nice job in capturing the proportions. I would love to see this done in a larger format where additional details could be brought out. Meanwhile, some good work. Score of 4. |

Great job Tyler! A very good attempt, but I'm sure you'll agree the shape of the face...especially the cheek areas aren't quite there. Score= 4 |

I've been watching these MOC olympics from the sidelines, and this is one of the coolest so far. I've also noticed the judges are brutal with their scoring. Seeing that this only got a courtesy 4, I probably wouldn't put the effort into competing. Hats off to you for doing so anyways. 5/5 in my opinion, Chris |

The verticle and horizontal combination is impressive. |

From the point of view of a competitor I should be happy the judges are giving this low scores, but... This deserves better. Very effectively done. |

Beautiful work! This is one of my favorite mosaic techniques, I like the resolution you get from it in a smaller size. Well done. |

Again, a solid 3-pointer came to mind, until I saw that you didn't use a program to generate it. I have mad respects for anybody who can whip up a mosaic with out computer aid. Regardless, it pulled you up to a 4. Score: 4 |
