Jahmong Shrine
chinese style shrine
About this creation
Before Yen-Chun and his sister Sun-Hai left for Sirob, they lived in a port town in Jahmong. Ancestoral shrines like this are common in Jahmong as a place to pay respects to passed ancestors.
Designing this was a challenge in getting the curve of the roof to look good while creating the cornerbeams and the illusion of corners sloping up in the classic Chinese style. After some revisions I have come up with a better looking roof with a lower profile and more accurate, i think, design.

I love the chinese lion statues at the enterance, and the innovative use of the lattice fencework on the inside. A well balanced and pretty piece.
