On 3/15/12 at 4:00 p.m., Bricktom Fire Department received a call for a structure fire in a trailer park. Engine 1, Squad 2, Medic 1, Battalion 1, and the Safety Officer were dispatched. Upon arrival Engine 1 found heavy smoke and flame showing from two structures. Engine 1 laid in from the hydrant, and began an interior attack and primary search. Before the crew of Squad 2 could begin a primary search on the second home, it was discovered that the hydrant was dry. Engine 1 evacuated the first structure, narrowly escaping a partial collapse. A mutual aide engine was called, and Brickville Engine 2 arrived on scene shortly after. The Captain of Engine 2 called in a Tanker Box because of the dry hydrant, bringing Brickville Engine 5, Tanker 3, Tanker 4, Brush 41, and Command 1. A tanker shuttle operation was set up as fire ground operations switched to defensive. Brickville Command 1 called a third alarm upon arrival. Bricktom Engine 3, Truck 1, Brickville Engine 1, Engine 22, Medic 1, Medic 2, and the Fire Marshall were toned out. Brickville Engine 22 and Bricktom Truck 1 stood by as RIT, while the Medic units set up a rehab area near the incident command post. After two hours of intense work, the fire was finally extinguished and overhaul began.
A huge thanks to Zack Newton for coming out and doing this with me!
