And now a 5-wide version of the DeLorean DMC-12 with the built-in time machine as seen in the "Back to the Future" movies with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
About this creation
The design of this 5-wide model is basically the design of my 4-wide version. I mainly made some adjustments to match the odd width.
Let's start with some pictures:
I used another set of wheels for the 5-wide. I think, they look good, too.
The rear end has changed a little. I added some more greebles and a license plate. Take a closer look and you'll be able to read "OUTATIME" - No, I'm just kidding :-))
Yes, the doors open on this one, too.
A look inside: Drivers side: The white center console is for the "time line" switch.
Passenger's side, back: The Flux Capacitor is inside the trans-yellow plate.
And passengers side, front: The console for time travelling is in the center of the dashboard.
The rear view with the open gullwing doors. Credits for the sideview mirrors again to Pierre KissTheSky
Ooops, did you see that, too? ;-))
Do you remember Doc Brown's last words in Back to the Future I?
"Roads? Where we go, we don't need roads...!"
Tadaaa: Hover mode...
Yes, I lied: I made a bigger modification on the design :-))
Whoooosh!
This is how it works.
And the "money shot"
So this is my 5-wide LEGO version of the "Back to the Future" DeLorean time machine. I hope you like it :-))
Update August 29, 2012:
I've found a way to include the hover mode in my 4-wide model.
You can find the result here:

Quoting Nick Barrett 8043 is ace isn't it ? It's a killer set ;-)) I've spent 5 1/2 hours to build it, but it was worth every minute (and every €). It's so much fun :-)) |

Same effect with me ;-) The hover mode is a fantastic addition, again an awesome job. Very nice presentation, too. Maybe I like the overall design even better than the 4-wide. - Gruß an die Niedersachsen aus Ostwestfalen ;-) |

Cool.

Hey Nils. Wie klein die Welt doch ist. Du kommst also aus dem schönen Niedersachsen. Ist ja echt verrückt. Ich komme aus Südniedersachsen :) Wo genau kommst du denn her? Würde mich sehr freuen wenn du dich mal meldest. Viele Grüße, Sven |

Hi Nils, I was thinking the same as David. A very nice build and then the folding wheels took it to the next level. Very clever use of the technic Ts. |
