I've wanted to do a cross-over MOC for a while now. I thought that doing a cross of the Batman Tumbler and Darth Vader's TIE Advanced would be a relatively straight forward exercise. And mostly it was... except for the cockpit and front portion. It was really difficult to integrate the TIE window into the tumbler.
I was going for a roughly 50/50 ratio but I think it's more tumbler than TIE. I don't have a Batman minifig, but if I did I would have made a Batman/Vader hybrid to go with it.
It's quite a large build, and while the cockpit is minifig scale, the rest of the build isn't really. Measuring in at 32 studs (plus the extra 1 or 2 studs-length of the rear wheels) it's quite a large build.
On to the pictures:
I changed the single jet engine off the tumbler for Twin Ion Engines:
This is a great crossover of a tumbler and a tie. I totally understand when you say you go more for sturdiness rather then aesthetics. With a 3 1/2 year old the majority of my MOCs are built in the same fashion. O should post more of my collaborative builds with him. Most times I build a base and let him add on as he sees fit.
