X-Wing T65
Inspired by the new bricks on LDD
About this creation

The latest update of the LDD, after stop of the Design-by-me-service, offers plenty of new bricks, and colours; so it is time to built an better X-Wing

Like my older X-Wing-moc, the Wings fold simultaneously, and the weight of the diagonal-connected wings is balanced ( but teeth-wheels don't work on LDD, and the poles goes through to many holes, so you can't try it in digital)

For comparison: the old Lego 7191 UCS set

The thrusters came out well, and I just had to use the grey technic-Wing-tiles on the S-foil-wings

Bottom with landinggear

It was important to me, that the proton-torpedo-launchers can fire straight forward, without hitting the sensor-nose

The main target was, to keep the body narrow, and sleek

The Taim-and-Bak Laser-canons, has small tips with anti-flashback-shields ( the official UCS-set has too big afb-shields), and i made the tips look more like canons, instead like antennae

The cockpit has an control-stick and an console

Last view!

The difference to the 7191 set in words:
+ the dimension is a bit downsized, and suitable for an Minifig-pilot
+ the body, especially the nose, is much more 3D shaped, e.g.:the way from the cockpit to the beak slopes gently down, and its real sleek and narrow
+ the Lasercanons have two more details, and they are better built in the wings
+ the wings are infinitely variable, the opening-angle is smaller, but wide enough in reference to the film-X-Wing
+ it has semi-retractable landinggear
+ the thrusters are a bit offset from the engines

- two detail are missing in the wings: cooling-grill, for energy-cells at the inside surface; and there are only three red stripes, so its red-three, and not Luke's fighter ( red-five)
- it has less technical-grebbles
- the beak isn't as authentic shaped, but cleaner, like the whole nose

So i think, its a better attempt to copy the film X-Wing in LEGO-bricks, with a few own design-features.

It will be hard to get all bricks in real, but it would be worth...

Thanks for stopping by!

Really cool! Nice details. Could be sold as a nice remake of the original one :-) Thanks for your comment on my tank by the way!

I just add a photo of the 7191 set, for comparison.
Quoting Garry King Very nice work. It is amazing what you can do on the computer. This in real life looks similar to the original x-wing that was released in the early Star wars Lego days with defined differences. Well done.

Clean. I dig the canopy too.

Yeah, the original X-Wing UCS canopy is great, but with stickers or prints of the framing-struts, it would look a bit more elegant.
