Well its been a while since my last creation. I've been doing a "Pirates of the Carribean" type of project by making my third and fourth ships simultaneously. I will release them 1 month apart.
Up first is my Commerce Guild Destroyer from Star Wars Episode III. It is 130 cm (51") long and about 20" wide. It contains about 5200 pieces and weighs about 22 pounds. Like my other ships, it is lined with transparent yellow tiles representing windows. There is about 400 of them on this ship. I'll post pics of the windows + engines lighting up later.
To design the ship I used the Episode III Incredible Cross-sections book along with the picture of the ship from starwars.com. The movie contained lots of destroyers but none were seen in any major encounters, so the DVD was useless for a reference. I started designing the ship from the front and worked my way all the way to the back. Luckily it is the only ship in Episode III with linear shaped engines so I did not have to worry about them as much. Howeveer the ship's outerhull across the top is curved so I used 100's of 1x3 angled pieces arranged in such a way as to make the protective hull look curved.
It took about 30 hrs to construct or about 1 month. This is because of many shipping delay's for pieces. However since the delays were only two weeks I won't hold any grudges from the bricklinker's lol.
That's very Impressive! The amount of detail in it is amazing and 51 inches long is giant. My latest MOC only got up to 40 inches or so. If you get a chance, please take a look at it (www.mocpages.com/moc.php/255317).
Awesome piece of work! I totally agree with you that it would look nice in front of a starfield background. You may want to join this group: http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/13655 It´s all about photo editing, so you can let this vision come true! Would be nice to see you there! ~Cheers, Marc
Nice work there! If you could make mini starfighters of the CIS and the Republic fighting each other around the destroyer, that would be cool! (Not saying that you have to or should do it). Great job!

Hey,I remember that ship.I could never miss it!It was in Star Wars Ep. III,well only for a few seconds in 2 seens. But anyway,VERY VERY VERY AWESOME/nice/uumm a new I will have to creatate...PS.Where do people get the bricks to make stuff like this? And I know theres random lego bricks usually inside,it makes a good core.
This is truly awesome, I love that ship and you've captured the shape and size perfectly, you do see this in the film but not much, you see it plowing into another CIS ship and exploding, then Obi says "Flying is for droids". Anyway EXCELLENT work as usual, I can't wait to see more of your models, keep up the great work.
