EVA-2 Galileo Galilei
About this creation
I started this project with the naive intention of creating a Microscale/Nanoscale LEGO model of the Icarus 2 from Danny Boyle's SUNSHINE. After the first hour or so I realized it was going to be too difficult to actually replicate the proportions in a not-so-boring way, also there is very little reference material for this ship on the web, so anyway I started adding some personal touches to the spaceship. It is still heavily influenced by the Icarus 2 though, as you can tell by the shape and the huge "umbrella" panels in from of the vessel.

Gone is the massive bomb payload from the original Icarus 2, and of course the mission is no longer to reignite the Sun, instead the EVA-2 and it's 33 crew members main mission is to travel for decades, to explore, bring and gather information about our past and future. Based on a relatively close future time where space travel is no yet understood or controlled but a couple of new technologies and discoveries make this journey possible.

With only 30cm long this is the biggest MOC I have ever built, go figure! :D
At roughly 1:1200 scale, I not even sure if it has to be tagged as Microscale or Nanoscale!?

Quoting El Barto ! Nice one! Not an easy task editing that first pic with all the little spindly bits. Well done! I invited you to the Rocket Surgery group which is all about photoediting, feel free to post this, and tell us how you did it--Thanks!
Thank you very much for the nice comment and the invite, will join right now :) cheers!

Quoting David Alexander Smith You are really good at micro scale building. This has it's reference, I guess via the Icarus, with contemporary space technology. A convincing little model, well executed.
Thanks David! it's indeed heavily inspired on the Icarus 2 ;)
